Asus rampage III Extreme

So other than usb3 and sata3, and cooler runing, is it worth getting the RIII ? Should I stick with the classified.

How much do you think the Classified would sell for second hand? If you could put it up on Ebay and get £300 - £350 for it then it would work out.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much it would go for. Might be an idea allright though seeing as they don't make 759's anymore it would probably be worth a few bob still. Ta.

I don't think you can but you don't need both cpu power connectors to run the board. It's just for extra juice during extreme overclocking etc.

I googled a 4 pin to 8 pin cpu power adaptor from 4 pin female to 8 pin male which would be right for my psu, i take it that the 8 pin is just 4 pairs of 12 volts is that correct ?

Well it can have the extra juice, my power supply has two CPU (8P and 4+4 pin) 12V connectors.

would adding the extra 8pin from the power supply make a o/c more stable do you think or is soley for more juice ?

if you have it, use it..
if you dont have the second, dont worry :)
Makes little difference on my mates classified, it does not move the frequency wall at all.

Hi Guys

I have pre-ordered this board, was looking at the CPU power connectors, I have a Corsair 1000W Modular PSU, and wondered if anyone knew if it had 2 x 8Pin connectors, or will I need to buy a new PSU, and if so can you recommend one??

Thanks

Hay

If it's this one then it has two, see Resources:

As discussed before one should be sufficient.

Stock should be arriving in OCUK pretty soon (Within 2 weeks, I would think) though I'll clarify with a sales person here.

3rd April:
We do not have any dates ourselves. Just keep looking at the news page, forums and tech sites around the web.:)

From VK's quote and the date he posted that comment, 2 weeks from then is by the end of this week. I would give it another week however seeing it's a little strange that since the quote OcUK seemingly still unsure on the ETA up to only 5 days ago... And of course still no ETA on the R3E even now.

Also, "Just keep looking at the news page, forums and tech sites around the web." far as I know most hardware (excluding graphics card/some CPU) gets stocked into e-tailers depends on their geographical location. So if anyone was to look for release dates for the motherboard I'd suggest focusing on refreshing the product page of your favorite e-tailers' site. Tech sites seems to only report retail avaliability of graphics cards and CPU, and rarely local avaliability.

im waiting to see what EVGA bring to the table tbh..
they need to bring out something to match this.

EVGA typically will leak their new product via Shimano, their in-house overclocker. 2-3 months later and more samples are sent out to connected overclockers to create the hype. Finally the product is announced on their home page, avaliable to PREORDER, from their USA site, with ETA of 2-4 weeks. Another 2-3 months later you start seeing stock of said part trickling into Europe markets, with a 30% premium over similar prducts.

But by all means wait.
