New Grand Turismo Trailer

Why don't you do yourself a favour and buy a 360 and Forza 3 in the mean time? It's a great game and a good way to get your petrolhead fix whilst you wait for GT5 :)
I've had 360's since launch and forza 1 & 2 were garbage, I won't be spending another penny on that game.
PS3 != xbox, they aren't guaranteed to break. Infact, I don't know of anyone (personally) that has had a ps3 die on them :)
I do.

Forza 1 wasn't on the 360, it was only on the original Xbox.

They are far from 'garbage', in fact they are better than the GT series in many ways. Out of interest, what makes the Forza series 'garbage' and GT5 the second coming of God?

And..?

The other Forza's bored me to death - cardinal sin of gaming - after a couple of hours there was just nothing to make me want to ever play them again. Boring and just didn't feel right.

I've not played GT since the original PSX and they were a lot of fun. Never played on a PS2 as I bought an XBox instead and felt very let down by the dull Forza, one of my only regrets was GT wasn't on XBox.

I think gaming has gone stale. So many games now just feel rushed and almost as if the money men get more of a say in games than gamers. At least thats how it feels. Imagine if more games had the time and effort put into them that GT5 obviously has?
Now if someone can release 2 versions of a game, eg, Forza 2 & 3 (is there another being made that might be here around the time GT5 hits the stores?) in the time it's taken them to release GT5 then something tells me this has been polished and might be worth waiting for? As opposed to yet another rushed out attempt to make a few quid.

On the topic of GT5 again Im sure you guys have been keeping an eye on GTP lately as many videos of some demo have been posted....

The cars look excellent but what is getting on my **** is how the jaggies are still so awful. Guess we may just have to live with them.

Your post made it sound like you thought Forza 1 was on the 360 aswell. My mistake :)

This is what's confusing me. Forza is pretty much the xbox's version of GT. It's the same formula as GT, ie a 'simulator' on a console, and there are lots of things that Forza does better than the GT games released thus far, for example Forza's far superior customisation features, but mainly the feel of the physics (admittedly this could be argued and debated for ages, it's all subjective).

Forza 3 is actually very polished IMO, I don't see how it can be considered 'rushed'.

Look, I'm not trying to get into the whole 'Forza vs GT' thing again, it's been done to death time and time again and I CBA with it, but the point I'm tying to make is that I find it puzzling how you can take two game series that are very similar in concept and execution, and call one 'dull, boring and garbage' and treat the other like the second coming of christ :/

Despite the fact that one may do some things better than the other (and vice versa), they really aren't that different

GT and Forza are the same game, get crap car, win races, mod it, get new car, win more races, mod car, win more races get another car mod car.

Thats it

It will never end, just enjoy both for what you like about them.
Virtual R has reported that 3D version of GT5 is coming this summer.

Exactly.

I can't see how you can like one and not the other. Rose tinted specs I think. Unless you have a thing for jazz piano.

Probably like how some will say the handling is brillant in one and terrible in the other. They dont try to adjust and accept that both are just different in many ways.

I'll put up with the crappy music in exhange for fully working and actually finished cockpits. FM3 has many bugs actually and short commings I pointed out many months before its release as a sim. You can read on their own forums regards some of those now as well in how little it improved over FM2 and how the whole damage and tyre physics was sugar candy PR. Even evidence of the T10 mods removing member comments of people with geniune complaints are not a nice thing to read about. Yet their insistance to continue with DLC over bugfixes/updates.

Im not dissing the game here but in how it was marketed did it live upto its DG Hype? You all can read this report and its got the usual backlash and witty comments but is an entertaining read and think he has some genuine remarks made.

FM3 What Went Wrong?

Video has been removed - anyone got alternative links?

Never mind - think I've found it. Wow it looks nice! Love the way that Esprit lands on the Ring - very convincing. And that really is 3D modelled Ferrari lettering on the plenums of that engine!

No update on the damage modelling though:( Still looks like they're getting way too carried away with modelling opening doors/bonnet/boot on a subaru, and haven't taken a step back and realised that in real life the aforementioned hatches simply do not all spring open at the slightest nudge, and flap around thereafter :)

Sure they've done a lovely job on those doors, but give me proper deformation/porked suspension etc any day!

Liam

that looks epic, glad i've pre-ordered the game. It defo worth the wait.

NO THIS LOOKS EPIC AS DOES THIS
Notice how the cars move about a lot and have working suspension and body roll as well.

wannabedamned
Indeed FM3 is a bit too easy to catch the back end on many RWD cars and little correction or re correction is needed.
At least the GT5 370z Demo Professional car required quite a bit of skill in correcting and you could overcorrect with dire consquences when pushed hard. It was much trickier in that respect.
Sign of things to come it seems.

Only skimmed the article but i found most of that garbage.

They expected the same amount of people to still be playing after 6 months? This is a driving game, not COD, and the ones that are still playing are the hardcore fans. Thats the reason that the hoppers are empty as most people are involved in community based championships.

And that bit about the PI system. They have been tuning these cars from day one and have probably got every ounce out of the cars as possible, so its no wonder that the same car is dominating the leaderboards in certain classes. The exact same thing would happen in real life.

Even though i don't paint anymore, i still visit the forum and the community is still going strong.
I had to laugh at the part where he said that the posts that criticise the game were moved. I had plenty of moans before its release and a few after too, and i never had any of them deleted. The only ones that i know of were because there was already a thread on the subject, but the mods were not too vocal as to why they deleted them.

I think T10 made a fantastic game and it was worthy of the reviews it got. To say that this game didn't deserve them is just crazy, and sounds like a fanboy rant to me.

It was a fanboy rant, 100% definate. But I'm talking about a racing simulator fanboy. And I'm sorry but a lot of what was said stands up. Read it, dont skim it.

2000 playing the game, when 2 million copies were sold 4 months before the stats were taken!

And saying this isnt COD its a racing game. I dont get your meaning, the numbers still speak, regardless of genre.

His comments about the review scores were right, The review scores were given by gamers, not car simulation people. Hense the scores dont reflect the games realism. Only it's enjoyability which is fair enough, No doubt the same will happen on GT5's release.

Most hardcore simulation gamers like realism, Thats a car games selling point to them. Thats why out of 2 million copies sold, that article claims its lost most of its fanbase due to the fact the realism and simulation doesnt hold up to their standards!

The question is, When GT5 scores its high scores with reviewers, Will it's fanbase stay longer than Forzas, Will the technical and simulation aspects quench the thirst of the Pro Simulation Fanboys

Car games have never been the most popular when it comes to playing online. The amount of people playing FPS online is crazy, so thats why i compared it to COD.

The reason he gives for people not playing online is pure speculation.

Is he saying that if the physics had been like rfactor, then millions would be playing it online? I don't know how many people are playing sims on the PC, but i would be shocked if it were in the millions.
