Apple holding iPhone OS 4 event, April 8th!

That's my point, Microsoft have adverts in their own applications. An OS you paid for and still full of adverts.

It's just a matter of time. I bet you, they'll be adverts in the messages app at the bottom like there are ads in windows live messenger.

It's a slippery slope. :(
I was being sarcastic. I don't have a single ad anywhere on my pc.

Q: Given the huge demand of iPad demand in the US, will that impact the international launch?
A: No. It’ll still be near the end of April, like we said.

They need to release the price for it in the UK please :D

What applications are there ads in? Serious question.

Doubt it. Apple wanted to kick google / admob in the nuts. Admob currently rules the roost for in-app advertising on the iPhone. Why not change that and make some extra money at the same time?

Also these aren't just normal apps. They are pretty revolutionary, as far as advertisements go.

As far as I know, none of the applications that come with Windows have any advertising.

I'm pretty sure that will stay the same of the iPhone OS. Any app that comes with the device you're paying for when you buy the phone, so they'll be ad free.

Great questions...all about iAd...ask some good ones...ike...what kinda features can we expect on the new Phone?

Windows live messenger although not part of the OS is full of it. It's been a while since I've used windows, but isn't msn.com set as the default homepage for internet explorer or has that changed?
Also the xbox, the adverts are in the OS and on xbox live despite the £40/year fee.

There is nothing to stop paid for apps taking advantage of iAd though and with the extra revenue I think most will be using it, possibly having a third tier of apps. Free > Full > Add-free

Just the way I can see this going anyway. Perhaps I'm cynical. :p

Tbh the biggest feature imo was the whole Game Center lark.
I am not a fan of iPhone/Touch games due to the pansy battery life on the devices but I have to admit it is an amazing platform for gaming once a device with good battery life arrives e.g iPad.

I've just been reminded - Where the hell is the new lockscreen? LOL, I was honestly expecting something to rival LockInfo.
