Its a sad day

What are you going to do when the inevitable happens and all the consoles introduce this?

lol thats not going to happen for at least 10 years, think of how limited the consumer base will be compared to now. at the moment its something like half the people with a current gen console have it connected.

i would not give up pc gaming for drm stuff though, what i would give it up for is all the times that something doesnt work properly and you need to spend hours trawling though the net looking for a fix, thats why im 99% console gamer and 1% pc(mmo's and flight sim)

Is it just the principle of this "always-on" DRM that people don't like/throw a hissy over? Because surely most PC gamers have a constant Internet connection anyway, and so therefore won't be affected by their DRM in the slightest?

except it isn't as simple as that. See all the problems regarding server downtime.

Sure it's a bit annoying but then so is all the FBI warnings ect at the start of DVD's, standing in line at the supermarket and having to brush my teeth. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop doing any of them.

Suck it up or enjoy (for the most part) 2nd class gaming on your console.

i had to re read that then a few times, it looked like you stood in the supermarket brushing your teeth lol

i was thinking errrrr nutter!!

Surely all you need to do is simply avoid the games with that type of DRM. Seems a little like cutting your nose off to spite your face to simply drop ALL PC games.

Especially when some awesome PC game comes along which doesnt have that DRM and you now wont play it.

DRM is only a major problem on games which havent yet got licence revoke tools. After the release of a few big titles (namely batman AA) these have started popping up all over the place now. EA games has quite a few licence revoke tools to stop legitimate gamers from being penalised. Sure the Ubisoft DRM is utterly retarded as they can't even keep their servers up 24/7 but if they could, most PC gamers have a stable internet connection anyway.

The thing is though you shouldn't have to get revokation tools. DRM should work in a seemless manor. You shouldn't notice DRM. Why should you have to have an internet connection to play a single player game? Why should it go mad if you loose internet connectivity and kick you from the game?

As stated the only person it hits is the retail consumer. The person whose spent his/her money on the game and then getting shafted for buying it by all the ridiculous DRM.

I haven't gamed at all on my PC since xmas, bought an xbox and a ps3 and haven't looked back.

pop the disk in and bang I'm gaming without issue.

Also the console games I have missed is astounding.

Long forgotten are the days of loading up CSS just staring at the menu due to bordem and no games to play.

Consoles, they're the future!

My thoughts exactly. Why abandon ALL PC games

I just avoid the titles with DRM that I don't approve of.

Have fun with the 540p upscaled to 1080p with no anti aliasing, crappy controls and very limited draw distance :)

You should buy more games then?

What is a licence revoke tool?
