Its a sad day

Seems a little like cutting your nose off to spite your face

My thoughts exactly. Some people just enjoy having something to complain about. Look on the bright side though - if DRM in PC games is all you have to worry about, your life is pretty sweet compared to most people in the world. At least you didn't step on a mine today or something. Get things in perspective :)

Personally I am just going to avoid the games with this style of always on DRM. Also I think it can only be a matter of time until this appears on consoles too am afraid.

True pc gamers stick through this crap. goodbye :)

also xbox ps3 will have anti piracy schemes soon. If theres a ps4 im sure it will allow game makers to add there own anti piracy schemes.

This.

How long do you think before consoles have serial codes and a permanent internet connection?

Publishers are now taking note of console piracey and the second hand market (lost sales).

I've never the constant internet connection a problem, I guess thats down to me playing online on pretty much all my games really.

Well its because of the stupid anti piracy scheme that requires you to have a constant internet connection while playing
Then why don't you just download the server emulator and use that to circumvent the DRM? It shouldn't be a bother to an old school PC gamer as yourself. Surely you remember the days when we had to use Boot disks and other skills to get our games working back in the day?

Some people need to just swallow their pride and get on with it tbh, if you want to feel rebelious and not get the product just buy it and crack it instead, this still effects the publishers because it means they have wasted time & money on the DRM. And you're still a loyal paying customer.

Why downgrade in life and use a console for all your gaming just because you get all butthurt about a bit of DRM? It really baffles me it does, and by doing this all you're doing is playing into their hands by backing out of the PC market and helping it die out because you're buying all your stuff on console.

What is a licence revoke tool?

You install it with the game installed it then uninstalls the game verifies your serial number and add's one back to the amount of times you can install the game in the future.

It shouldn't be needed but due to the developers of the anti-piracy being so mind-numbingly stupid, it is.

For the last couple of months I've been putting some money away for one of theese
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-237-OK
With the upgraded gfx cards.

But the other day I found myself with my hand on an Xbox 360 package in Gamestation. £200 for the 360, ME 2 and BFBC 2. What triggered my moment of weakness? To be honest I saw my mates 360 a FFXIII and GTA 4 and it looked great, this was on a £200 machine that he took out of the box, plugged into his telly and looked better than any Pc that cost twice as much would.

I've been looking through the games and the only one that I would play that isn't on a console is World of warcraft. However WoW is the game I play the most by far, the fact that my PC is nearly 7 years old I really need a new one and DLC for games like Fallout 3(which will be my 1st purchase upon aquiring said new PC) just can't be had on a console.

If it wasn't for those three facts I'dve walked off with a console and not looked back.

The Force is weak in you my son. :(

PC Gamers are a Breed apart & if you are not Mentally strong you will fall by the way side like this poor soul.
Be Warned kids, PC gaming is for Adults !!!

That did make me smile... I have to agree that people that REALLY like PC gaming will go that extra mile to keep playing, some might miss out on a few games because they dont like the DRM used by some companies but there are a few out there that still dont use DRM and I'm happy to keep gaming because of it :)

i have to say first and foremost i am a PC gamer, but have my 360 for the stuff that the PC doesnt have e.g. Forza / Tekken / VF5 / PGR.

its a great console, dont get me wrong. but the pc gets most use.

What the hell difference does it make? nearly everyone who has a PC who plays the latest games has an Internet connection anyway, if it helps reduce Piracy I am all for it!

Their would be more games released for the PC if we didn't have the Piracy problem associated with it.

There is no correlation between 'value for money' for gamers and a drop in piracy.

Infact we've all seen a marked correlation between the increase in draconian DRM / bad value for money gaming while piracy has risen.

£30 for some reskinned models and a new "MONSTER KILL" sound file? No ta.

It's all stick, no carrot.

Edit: Honourable exceptions are Blizzard (Maybe not the case now), Valve, and THQ.

How about a game is purchased for say £9.99 or whatever.

Then another £10 or whatever is done via an activation online, that would possibly help against piracy?

Even if the game is pirated, they would still need to be activated online at a cost of £10, so the developers of games still making money.

With the modern multi platforn games out, and games on the PSP/360 looking amazing straight out of the box how do they compare against a modern PC(like the one in my previous poast) is the PC markedly better than the console and what about game play, is that a totally different experience on a console to a PC.

Honest questions, not flame bait as I'm still genuinley undecided as to what to go for.

Well, I am not going to be leaving pc gaming for a few years yet, but I think the next round of consoles will see the end of pc gaming for me.

I bought Bad Company 2 on PC on release, and while it looked great and I did enjoy it to a degree, it felt like something was missing. Bought it on PS3 over the weekend to compare the two, and sure, it doesn't look as good, but hell, I had so much FUN with it.

I think with my job being sat behind a monitor using keyboard and mouse all day, I have come to hate touching mose and keyboard when I am home. Sure, I might still be sitting in front of a screen, but I just find it easier to relax and get into a game with a controller.

And when you get into the game and stop thinking about the difference in how the game looks, the lower res, etc, becomes a non-issue.

Why not just enjoy both? Play Xbox exclusives on the console (Fable 2, Halo 3 etc) and play PC exclusives on the PC (Counter strike etc) like me. You don't HAVE to choose one over the other, like the machine has feelings or something! Both have their own separate advantages and it's up to you to take advantage of each and enjoy them both.
