Dawkins trying to arrest Pope Benedict Xvi

There are various theories regarding the book Exodus, mostly around the actual mass Exodus of the people from Northern Egypt (it is said that the 'exodus' took place over centuries rather than being a single mass migration) and the various plagues described. They all have certain theories and effects that ring true.
 
I was guessing he meant the tomes that contain fiction (presence of monotheistic God, etc) over the actual religion being fictional.

But the religion section contains a huge amount of books mostly about ceremonial and historic stuff.
 
Jesus was probably the David Blane of his day & showed a few peasants some tricks.

I would be interested to see a poll of all you Christians on this thread to see how many can truthfully say they were not totally & utterly influenced by their parents or school assemblies which lead to their belief in god & never once stopped to wonder if it is all true or not.

Do you share the beliefs of for e.g. Hindu's who worship an Elephant god, a monkey god & dozens of others ??
You probably think it's ridiculous & yet there are countless millions of devout Hindu's. Are they all wrong as are millions of Budhists & all the rest of non Christians in the world
Or do you all conveniently use the current 'get around' by saying 'it's all the same god really which only a few years back would be unheard of with loopy vicars trying to ban Hari Krisna records being played on the radio :p

I will ask one more thing, if god exists what does he actually do for you?

Why does he ( is god a male or female?) let millions die of starvation ?

allow devout Priests ,monks ,nuns etc die of cancer ?
allow a new Pope to drop dead of heart failure ?
allow thousands to die in earthquakes only to see those that survived it rush to pray to god thinking he had 'saved only them' ?

KNOWING (being Omnipotent) that telling so many different people so many different messages about there creator - to effectively divide the world and its civilisation into such segmented and devisive groups.

it makes no sense.

Why should Dawkins be arrested? Why should religious debate have any lawful protection? Religion isnt a race that you are born with, if you dont like what other people think about your fairy tale beliefs, man up a bit and ignore it.

Dawkins is a brilliant person, and is just what secularism, humanism, and rational logic currently need. Pedophile christian popes who preach hatred towards nonbelievers, sinners and blasphemors are not what we need, nor who we should be listening to.

Full removal of religion from state, education and law and freedom to criticize any out of date and old fashioned belief system is exactly what people need in any modern democratic society.

Who says he did?


What if he created the "stuff" before the big bang or just made it go bang.

Then everything else just happened along without interference.

It's only the books of men that say there's an afterlife and that god needs you to worship him.

Like most people you argue against a perception of god from the religion you where brought up around not against a "god".

oh i already stated we could be subject to alien race creator lords who terraformed the planet and induced life...

when you argue with the 'religious' of folk, you are always arguing against their religions interpretation...because that is what they believe in...not that there was no natural beginning, but that there was a man god who made man, and said if you dont do this, ill send your soul to hell..

how many souls do you think that God has collected since the beginning of man?

i wrote a nice piece on this, and did the above calculation.
 
The bible is just full of feeble, laughable rantings about how the Earth & it's people were made & all the rest of it, the sort of stuff I would expect to hear from some primitive Aborigine tribe or from darkest corner of enexplored Borneo & not presumed intelligent people.

How can you possibly even begin to believe that the first bloke to appear on Earth ( after just 7 days of the apparent Earths existence :rolleyes:) whose rib fell out & turned into a woman who then proceeded to churn out babies to populate the world.

Presumably these children grew up & then committed incest with each other ?

Waits for the convenient stock answer that we shouldn't take the bible literally :rolleyes:
 
no, you cant really disprove all of it without some form of time manipulation device to go back and eye witness it all first hand.

it is basically one mans word vs another...who is to say who is right or wrong?
 
The Vatican have covered up these hideous crime's for years, sooner or later some one would have stood up to the Vatican and wanted something done. It just happens to be Dawkins and Hitchens does it matter who stands upto the Vatican.

The Vatican has got to be held responsible for these crime's against innocent children, and you can't tell me the present Pope new nothing about about these past cover up's.

The Vatican is very powerfull in its own right, lets hope Dawkins and Hitchens suceed in thier efforts for the sake of children past and future.

Okay so we know he probably wasn't a fat man who lives in the north pole and climbs down the chimneys of good children and flies around on a reindeer lead sleigh, and we know that his read cloak was the invention of the Coca-Cola corporation - but Santa is most definitely jolly and leaves presents at the bottom of christmas trees, is totally undetectable by the sceptical (yeahh) and there is no way you can disprove that despite the fact that everything else associated with him is so utterly ridiculous!

However, despite people's scepticism of both Santa and the pope, we should probably wage war on the Vatican. I don't think they even have a nuclear stockpile, they're one of the few places we can wage war with without having to cop out with MAD.

(hints of satire and playing 'the devil's advocate' may be located within post, reader discretion is advised)
 
hm but we can literally go and check for santa cant we....we can monitor the chimneys to make sure he doesnt come down and go back out again.

we cant go and check back in time if jesus was where its said he was.

and we have various sources, who conflict on other things but do tend towards Jesus' existance...

so the santa thing is just a red herring really.

so far jesus is not provable, or disprovable.

Doesn't the bible state the Earth to be only a few thousand years old? (Serious question, I know that a lot of religious types believe it, but I don't know if it's from the bible). This would have been disproven quite a few times now.
