The Big WWE Wrestling Thread

Oh I agree, i've just never noticed if it gets shifted to 7pm here/1pm US or something crazy like that.

Dunno if it's worth staying up for though.

To be fair Hoff was one of the better guest hosts, however, when they announced next weeks hosts everyone chanted "Who Are Ya", though I doubt it made the show :p

The Hoff is awesome :D

And fans booing Cena was awesome too

And he gets a crowd reaction, the people were mostly silent during the Kofi vs Shaemus match on TV, and one is supposed to be main event and the other being built.
The UK audience is a good guide to the true reaction a wrestler gets, when you take away all the kids

Yer should still be Friday on SkySports, but who knows that this means as far as the actual show goes.

I'm not sure if SyFy will pony up the cash to run SD with the full brand split, plus if no-one picks up NXT that means SD has to tour on it's own with only it's own funding, maybe it will finally end the silly brand split :)

Back from Smackdown, well it was three shows in one, as Superstars and NXT was recorded too, more matches is always nice. Crowd reaction during the NXT "Talk Off" between the Rookies was great, some of the Rookies were overwhelmed by the noise and fluffed their lines :p

Great Main Event on Smackdown, well worth a view, engrossed the whole arena. Must say RAW was far behind SD in terms of entertaining wrestling matches, much preferred tonight to Monday.

WWE tend to do 2 UK tapings a year don't they?
After WM, and then again in Autumn right?

Think I'll go to next one

They're not going to end the brand split any time soon, they've got too much talent to have one brand split across multiple shows. Having multiple brands it gives them more chances to give talent headline and main event spots.

They have lots of Talent no-one cares about as well, no brand split could work fine ... remember, it's not that all talent has to appear on both shows, it's that you can mix and match what show what talent appears on, and who challenges for what.

But getting rid of the brand split would mean you'd need to get rid of the titles, which I just don't see them doing, I'd love them to, but they won't.

The WWE has way too many belts at the moment, the titles have very little significance these days.

I remember 10-20 years ago it was unheard of to have a worker hold the World title on more than 3 or 4 occasions (with a handful of people holding the title 5 times)... I hear Michael Cole saying so often "John Cena - an eight time World Champion" like that's a good thing?

It's an over populated roster, a flooded title situation where the straps mean nothing to carry any more.

I will give credit where credit is due though, Vince is now starting to make new stars - we're seeing a lot of new names on the programming starting to get pushes towards stardom and you'd never have seen that so apparent a number of years ago.

TNA has a similar problem in terms of roster size - they're trying to build stars off the reputation of established wrestlers, but after having a major spot on TV they then leave the worker off the next show to fill contractual obligations for other wrestlers.

A lot of the workers on TNA, who are starting to build decent storylines and get TV time seem to be on TV one week in a major part, then off the next week.

nikebee, I don't want to see Cena hold the title for a year though.

And removing brand split does fix that a bit, you can still keep two championships - but now instead of having:

Orton, HHH, Cena, Batista, Shaemus all going after 1 title
and Edge, Jericho, Punk (um, who else on SD?) going after the other

You have all the above but going after both, so you have more people in the pot.

The WWE titles are fine now, they have 4 singles plus 1 tag title, which is perfect. The problem is that we keep seeing the same matches due to the brand split

WWE was down too, 3.2 is pretty low

BTW, I love it when Taz says "here comes the PopE" makes me think of him in WWE saying "here comes the pain" whenever Lesnar came out
