Well music is subjective just like everything, isn't it? Many people make offhand comments about bands and that's just the nature of the beast. Every one has different tastes and some people just can't abide stuff they don't find pleasing to them.

Clearly... And as such, as soon as I see "crap" or **** used for a film or music, it generally just makes me dismiss/ignore the entire opinion. But if someone actually just explains their opinion, quantifies it, or generally demonstrates a more considered and even-hand approach, it shows some merit/worth to the opinion (for me at least).

Which is the more interesting, useful comment out of these two hypotheticals:-
- "Owl City are crap!"
- "I their stuff sounds too much like Postal Service, and I prefer them to be honest!"

Which shows some sort of opinion worth taking any notice of :)

Well I just think their ****, so there.

Really now though, it's the lyrics that do it, they just come off as childish and like not a lot of effort went into the writing.

I listened to their album on we7, it just sounded like one big song.

They're ok to have on as background music, but I've never buy or choose them..

Very meh imo.

Some are a bit too plinky plonky nicey nicey for me... But a couple stand out as nice background music for me.
