iRacing

I really don't like the SR. The lower rankings you're in the harder it is to keep up due to all the stupid people around you. I know I'm not that fast, and I don't race someone when they're obviously faster than me on track but when you're coming up to lap a broken/really slow car and they start to race you, and you get like a 6x inc due to them spinning infront of you, it's damn annoying

I'm gonna be a bit harsh and say what I say in every SR related post:

SR is a great system...

There are very very few incidents that aren't avoidable in any way, and learning to avoid those incidents is a big part of racing, especially when you're racing with people of limited skills (lets face it, if we had the skills we'd be out there doing it in real life :p)

If you're losing SR hand over fist then you're doing something wrong.

If someone is catching you very quickly and instantly starts sticking his nose in on the corner entry then just let him go, chances are he'll outbrake himself and/or crash out soon anyway.

If you come up to someone who is erratic/damaged then give some room, anticipate a spin as much as possible.

You can't avoid every incident, but it's fairly easy to drive in a way that will gain you SR, especially at Rookie/D-Class where it's easy to maintain or even gain your SR...

Oh i agree with you Skill, i wasnt mocking the SR system in anyway, just having a rant at the fools i encountered in those 2 races, the main culprit was a lapped guy i was catching, he just wouldnt move, everytime i tryed to pass he would side slam me, if i did get past he would pit me, but being FWD countersteer and full throttle brings it back, and that went on for 11 laps.
The other race i closing a guy, very last corner i got the perfect line and out dragged him to the 1st turn, at the start of pit lane i pulled along side, stayed there the whole time, braked into to T1 did NOT run wide (replay confirmed) and he just side swiped me and off i went.

I expect that sort of thing in Rookie races with noobs not people who have got D to B class, I must add after both races and replay watching the involved parties said sorry, but that doesnt help my SR which took a beating due to no fault of mine.

I have mixed views on the SR. I think it's harsh when someone rear ends or when you put a wheel on the dirt. On the other hand I'm not sure how you can encourage safer racing when you have so many races. In the GTR2 I run in all races are moderated and bad driving potentially penalised but we only have a couple of races a week.

I've not raced the Jetta but heard the racing is 'hard' due to the fact the cars are slow and evenly matched. The only way passed is to be forceful. Not good for SR!

Besides, at the moment the poxy movie competition is destroying my life and especially cockpit time. :D I'm only posting here because it's less painful than editing. And it's even more painful this time because there is no way I'm going to put anything together by Sunday to match this...

Seems you've made the final four Andrew and an impressive piece of work - well done.

Thanks. I have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning*, because Alex's movie is superb, and Florian's is heavy in the all-important Nascar category. But I'm quite pleased with what I did and it was nice to make the final cut. That was my only goal really.

I really need to make another movie now, because I "wasted" so many great clips trying to squeeze brief glimpses of them into 2mins. But I think that footage is going to be sitting on my HD for a while. If I see another movie editor this month I may cry. :-)
