Anyone play this?

Decided to try it out yesterday, $5 not bad for first month. I'm no good at it, need to start learning setups and things, but the atmosphere is amazing. I've never been in a crash in a racing game and cared enough to apologise and receive a "Nope, my fault" back.

If anyone here plays it and wants to show me the ropes I'll give you a big hug ;)

I was tempted to write "game" instead of game in my opening post :D What I really need to do, is get better at oval racing, was playing a passworded hosted race last night at Charlotte Speedway I think, my car setup was screwed, was hitting the end of the last gear too early and getting capped, even when drafting I wouldn't get any faster. Someone else actually mentioned this to me while racing, was quite interesting that he managed to notice (I wasn't really any slower when not in a tow). Anyway, this talk ended quickly as some people touched (this was a decent race, no unnecessary fighting going on) and I ended up coming around the corner to find a car spinning in the middle of the track... then I started flying :|

Was amusing in a way :P

Any suggestions on how to setup cars, I have NO clue what I would need to change

EDIT: I have no issue with lines really after a few practice runs, just car setups screw me over

Gonna need to get up the ranks before the F1 car is released, love my open wheelers. Guessing all the series for F1 would be Class A/Pro

iSpeed is the most amazing thing ever. Could probably gain about 2s on this track just by comparing my best with someone elses

just my luck. managed to break my wheel. I have it on 200deg couse I don't like using the full 900, snapped into full lock during a slide and cracked it through to 900, now the FFB motors can't grip it to set itself, just whirrs at me :(

right, if I have it in pieces when I start plug it in, I can get it to work in 200 :) Think without it in pieces I might be able to get it in 900.

It's a DFP. Seem to have snapped the gears off the bit that changes it between 900 and 200, and in the process dislodged the "I'm in 200 mode" switch from the casing the the button doesn't get pressed. Hopefully some glue will fix it all up, after I remove all this lube from my hands, really is well lubed in there.

I'm quite impressed with how these things worked, never really thought about it before :)

Yeah, was having a bad practice session, was getting very forceful with it. most of the damage was caused by/to the "blocker" bit of plastic after the wheel managed to fall off it and I kept driving

Guess I'm going to need a G25 now, no way I'm going to be able to glue these teeth back on and still have the cogs pick them all up... unless it's the same piece as used on the G25 and you have a spare ;)

think I'm going to have to mod my wheel just to get it to initialise properly :| can't really afford a new wheel at the moment, used my spare money to buy some race tickets :)

EDIT: There issues with the G27 or is it just considered really over priced?

I have now completed 3 races with the Solstice at Leguna Seca, Finished 6th, DNF, 3rd.

I got taken out at the start on my second race, i was not happy. Replay shows that the guy just pulled right accross me about 100m away from the start.

Im still comtemplating about wether to continue or not. I reall want t get into the single seaters but im not paying any more for it..........yet.
what kind of lap times you getting? hit me with a PM (Alex Davies) and I'll have to race you some time

edit: got my wheel fixed to 200 now and it works fine. bit of bodge work (cable tie) and it thinks it's fine on 200. still cries if it attempts 900, but thats by design ;)

I'd use paddles for seq anyway. Only use the gear shifter on my DFP as a handbrake on dirt ;)

I've been moaned at for causing a crash before, when I'm 100% sure (proven by the inc list) that I didn't even touch the guy. So obviously one of us was lagging and he reacted to where he thought I was. I don't cut across, I'm overly cautious with other drivers

I always apologise if accused, or if I know it's my fault. I'll be getting a G26 when I can afford one and find one at a decent price

I'd agree, although I've taken advantage of it ;) I'm waiting for the promotions during week 13 to get my Oval A license having never raced at C or B levels. Touring around one oval 4 times doing time trials is a piece of cake.
hmmm, maybe I should do time trials to avoid crashes... get that SR way up :)

well at lot less likely to get shunted off the track in TT :D might start gaining SR rather than losing it. Races are so short in rookie that someone shunting you bad in the first corner can cause your SR to drop even if you drive perfect the rest of the race, not fun :(

Yeah sure, im running about 1:51 at the moment, im gradually getting consistant, my driver name os Shaun Baker, we'll definately hook up.
Yeah, I'm hitting 1:52, with an optimum of 1:50 according to iSpeed. I know where I'm losing time and keep pushing too hard and spinning it ;)

Forums are down for me at the moment, but will PM later and maybe we can run a practice together then hit a race or something :D

iSpeed is damn awesome, have the web interface open on my laptop next to me. shows you splits + optimum for getting all splits at your best :D also it tracks telemetry of you and everyone else on track with you. so after a race or during a practice session, just alt tab out and compare your best lap with the current leader. see how they're racing line differs, when you're braking when you should be lifting etc. it's awesome. I'm not as good at finding lines as I thought I was, and was stuck at about 1:58 before I started using iSpeed. Only had a few sessions with it on due to my wheel needing repairs :D

Quality, im going to give it a go tonight. Are you on tonight by any chance ??

yeah, I will be :)

Even better,

The new version of iSpeed uses text to speech to announce the split times for you, so you dont even have to have the ispeed app visible :)

I might be arround tonight mate if you are on

Yeah it's cool.

We'll have to find a way of communicating quickly outside of game. anyone got vent or teamspeak + know a decent server?
