Anyone here using PerfectDisk11to defrag there ssd. Its does say on there site that it does work for ssd. But Im still a little worried about using it. This is what it says.

Automatic detection of SSDs ensures these drives can be optimized for the best possible performance boost.

i have tried it on my intel 80 gb ssd and it works ok just run it it has increased the speed a bit on the drive and it all so shuts down a little quicker as well just make sure the you use consolidate free space!:)
 
what perfectdisk is saying is to use "consolidate free space" shown here: PerfectDisk helps improve the performance of SSD drives' write performance through its complete free space consolidation. To write a sector, the file system needs to read and merge the data, then erase and write back a data block, which is bigger than a sector, called an "erase block." The size of the sector is 1 - 4MB, which is much bigger than the sector size. By consolidating free space, the process of transferring data between erase blocks can be reduced or eliminated. when i try to "defrag" a ssd it it changes it to consolidate free space so what you have link to is right! but after running consolidate free space my intel ssd drive speed did increase as for trim it is enabled and i also run the intel toolbox one a week but it did not increase the speed of the drive! so before i run perfectdisk i run a ssd speed tester and again after and i did see a benefial gain! the only thing that i cant comment on is wear to the drive so i will have to wait and see to see if the drive wears out quickly.:)

That's a good read, your spot on there Dinkas.

Firstly, this only applies to SSD's which use write combining.

Secondly, this only applies to SSD's which don't have TRIM or GC (Gen 1 drives).

Thirdly, PerfectDisk alone isn't enough to unlock the performance gain that their claiming. After using PerfectDisk to Consolidate Free Space you then need to reset those consolidated free blocks to see any gain.

PerfectDisk are being missleading and irresponsible, which is especially dissapointing seen as I use their product on my platter based disks.
