Your fav. Generation of consoles?

Also the N64 gen. Some top quality games then. Maybe because I had a lot more time to play games back then and also didn't get a PS1 till later.

n64/dc era, multiplayer goodness :)

4 player goldeneye! everyone loves online gaming but i hate that no one bothers to include splitscreen any more... its just so daft when mates are round and im thinking ive got nothing we can all play

the era formerly known as the ps2 era

its still incredible now. the amount of amazing games is too much to list. something for everyone

I think I'll join the SNES or N64 brigade. The first console I owned was a SNES with Mario Allstars - and then Donkey Kong and Starwing blew the doors off for me in terms of games I loved and replayed.

The N64 launch was probably one of my most anticipated moments as a kid. I used to go out to a big Toys R Us to play Super Mario 64 before the console was properly released. Then Goldeneye, Blast Corps, Mario Kart 64, Ocarine of Time... It was just a great period of gaming.

Now on the 360, I buy stuff occasionally when released, but like others have said, I really can't justify £50 for a game that has only about 8-10hrs of single player time in it (MW2 anyone?). I miss the really fun pick up and play games of the PS2 era (SSX, MGS) and the longer story development games of years gone by like Resident Evil 2. I'm hoping Alan Wake might have a little touch of that, but I do look back and think I could never spend as many hours gaming now as I did then.

N64 and just the N64. By far the most fun I have ever got from a console. The only console I have played with friends on, still even today it knocks the current gen aside when people are over.

Whilst I'd like to say the 16-bit era, I'm going to have to go with the 128-bit area (sixth generation) - i.e. Dreamcast, Xbox, Gamecube, Playstation 2.

Amiga and Atari ST for home micros.
Megadrive/Genesis and SNES for consoles.

So it looks like the 16bit era was my world.

Too many games I could list for all those platforms :D let the good times live.

My sentiments exactly. :D

Was going to agree with the Amiga generation. Speedball 2 and Kick Off 2 dominated my life for so long.

But going to give it to this gen. The 360, lesser extend PS3 and again lesser extent Wii have provided so much entertainment.

I'd say the PS1 era, PS2 I didn't really find the big great franchises that pulled me in other than KOTOR (sadly gone MMO), Halo and Kingdom under fire. Disgaea was good but it's not sustainable as you can't play that kind of game again and again so PS1 era has it with titles like MGS, Resident evil, Silent hill, Tekken etc. and the best of the FF titles.

What I would say about this generation is that the console has come back to the living room after quite a few years relegated to the bedroom... if that makes sense?

Been gaming since the 8-bit days but the early-mid-90's I remember most fondly, when 3D gfx really kicked off, taking gaming to the next level - we haven't seen a jump like it since.

I have had great times on each generation starting from a mastersystem I've gotta say to be honest I'm really liking this generation the most some really awesome fps' have been released, people will scream you can't beat goldeneye but it's just so dated. For me most of the retro games are a best left memory and an example of how far we've come today.

PS1/N64

so many memories, so much time spent on hundreds of great games, my favourite console is the original xbox but as an era the one that encompassed the above two consoles is what made it for me :)
