Doesnt Gordon Brown remain PM if it is a hung parliment?

Normally the party that finishes with the highest number of MPs will be asked to form a coalition government, so if Conservatives finish first, Labour second and the Lib Dems third, it'll be the Conservatives and Lib Dems in government with Cameron as PM. Naturally the Lib Dems will want something in return for being in government, and so they could refuse to go with the Conservatives and form a coalition with Labour instead.

It is down to the Queen to pick the person she things is most likely to form a government

Why do you think the tories would encourage a successful economy?

Why?

Christ almighty, i'm not going to go into all that again

But they have a much better grasp of the economy than Labour ever does and they are great for city workers like me who work, pay taxes and invest.

Lib-dem's are in fastasy land (as cameron said they have beautiful ideas but just not possible) and Labour just look after the dole scum and hammer anyone who tries to make a success of themselves

I'm really surprised at this current swing towards the Lib-Dems, it really makes me wonder if ANY of these fence sitters have actually read through their policies? I'm a first time voter, and I'm undecided, but LD have several policies which just seem ridiculous to me.

No Nuclear Power - We don't have enough power in this country, renewable energy is not good/cheap enough for the amount of energy we need.

No Nuclear deterrent - I'd rather have a gun and not need it, than need a gun and not have it. Plus, is it really going to cost that much? 3-4Bn a year, and it will generate so much wealth aswell. You can pretty much guarantee 90% of the workforce will be paying 40% tax, plus the tech and service we will generate from it which could then be exported etc.

10% Bank Tax - We need banks. It doesn't matter how much everyone hates them after the recession, we need them. If they all decide to leave we're screwed.

£2500 Bonus cap - See above. But also, 2.5k isnt an unreasonable amount for someone even on an average wage to accumulate.

£1000 Capital gains tax - Will take a big cut from a lot of people. Certainly in my work sector a lot of companies give stocks/shares over cash bonuses etc. so this could really hit me.

I can't see how anyone can say the policies I've shown above are GOOD ideas?

Rage . They really need to have a 10 minute break in the debate where they explain their POLICIES, rather than bicker about how crap each others going to be.
Or, we could dispense with the debates all together, realise we're not American and people have to read the policies. Saturate newspapers/tv with them or something.

Except that only one of those things is remotely true.

The Lib Dems have said this isn't the time to enter a Euro and have no plans to do so in this parliament - although they support joining it in the future - and they oppose going straight ahead with a pointless cold war suited like-for-like Trident replacement not the complete abandonment of a nuclear deterrent. Trident will run for 20 more years anyway, so it's hardly an important issue for the coming 5 years.

As the illegal immigrants, the position is that illegal immigrants who have been here for 10 years, speak English and a have a clean record will offered a pathway to acquiring legal status. Frankly that strikes me as not a bad way of cleaning up an existing mess.

Hear hear!

All the Clegg-bashers should watch his interview with Paxman to get the facts.

Jeremy Paxman's full interview with Nick Clegg

Personally I think nuclear weapons are a waste of money, the negatives outweigh the positives on nuclear power, and immigrants who are working here illegally and have been for 10 years, and who speak English, should be integrated. Common sense!

Paxman does Cameron next, Brown week after.

I really want to vote Lib Dem but I can't get past their "no nuclear power" policy. I'd rather eat my own testicles than ever vote conservative so it's going to be a vote for Labour from me. Not that it makes a blind bit of difference as I live in a overwhelmingly pro-Labour area anyway.

Just watching this, another very good performance by Clegg.

Same. I'm also against joining the Euro.

No change - still Tories.

I can see why people would vote Lib Dems I actually agree with a lot of their policies. But really, look at the important issues, not the how do I win out of this small fry policies and you have to be mad to want Lib Dem to get in. No nuclear power, are you insane, roll on the black outs and the huge damage to the economy. Or signing over a massive chunk of your pay packet to power your home and still have a massive negative impact on the ecconomy.
Oh yeah lets screw over large corporations. the same ones which are already moving abroad. The ones that actually employ a huge number of people and give huge amounts of corporate tax. You might not liek big corporations, but you would hate it if they all packed up and left.

But no nuclear power and screwing over large corporations, which are already moving abroad. Just signs the countries death warrant. we need nuclear and we need big corporations. That's the biggest two challenges this country faces and Lib Dems want to do the opposite of what is needed.

Sow hat are we going to jhave instead of nuclear power, renewable can provide some, but it can not meet the power we need. We need energy security and we need it know. Prices are just going up and that trend will remain.

It might sound sensible to do an amnesty, but it also means more people will try and get into the country illegally, you are basically re-warding criminals.

I was planning on voting Lib Dem as a protest vote more than anything. I feel like labour have screwed up on far to many things. I just can't bring myself to vote Tory.

The problem is that I never thought the Lib Dems would have the success they are apparantly currently enjoying, and their policy on Nuclear weapons has me worried. I personally would rather we keep some Nuke's just incase. It's making it tough to stick with my plan to vote for them, just incase the entire election is turned on it's head and somehow the Libs end up having a big say in what happens and do get rid of Nukes.

This whole thing over the TV debate has me thinking like people have watched an episode of Britains got Talent and decided Clegg is the new Subo. Feels a bit wierd. I'm not sure who to vote for now

Yup same here, I think only the Tories know the importance of large companies doing well in the UK. I hate the liberal lefties with their 'down with big companies and those nasty evil bonus' brigade. The anti nuclear bit is just the icing on the cake.

The Lib Dems haven't said they want to enter the Euro, they've just said that any entry would have to be preceded by a referendum.

And we all know what value to put on referendum promises from the Lib Dems, especially where Europe is concerned!
