It says Hekla but the volcano itself looks nothing like Hekla and looks very much like Katla.

It does like like Katla, but i'm no volcano expert, i just went with the site.

While I don't mean to be insensitive, as I know loads of people are stranded, I find the whole affair quite interesting and like the prospect of travel chaos for some reason - it is a first after all!

It has certainly been considered over and over again. The energy potential is enormous. But they could never find a cost-effective solution for harvesting it. Much the same as collection of methane gasses from landfills. It would cost more to collect and ship than it is just to produce the same energy from a more conventional method.

Me too. It is awesome to think something like this is happening, it could be history in the making.

Imagine the media coverage it would get if it did erupt!

That is Hekla with the big ash cloud over it by the way, since 8am this morning apparently. (not sure on reliability of source)
