Icelandic Volcanic Eruption - Significant Disruption to UK Flights

Apparently Hekla is erupting (producing lava) judging from the sudden sheer torrent of tweets about it on twitter (#ashtag). Maybe they just found the webcam, hopefully.

Edit Oh no wait, its Reuters thats reporting it. Less ash more steam though, so its all good, maybe.

Edit 2: Ha ha, its ok, Reuters just found the webcam we had on here hours ago.

OcUK 1:0 Reuters :D

I don't know whats happenining and the webcams are not helping

There are websites linking to 'Katla' but when you go there are infact live cams of Hekla, which has smoke coming out of it on the cam

On the bright side of things Chris Moyles, Michael Flatley and Heather Mills are all stuck outside of the UK due to this ash!

Enjoy it while it lasts, they’ll be back soon. Judging by what is being said on the radio all the airspace could be open on Wednesday.

Hekla has blown its lid...

Hekla is a stratovolcano located in the south of Iceland with a height of 1,491 metres (4,892 ft). Hekla is Iceland's most active volcano; over 20 eruptions have occurred in and around the volcano since 874. During the Middle Ages, Icelanders called the volcano the "Gateway to Hell."

Any info on how this one compares to the one that erupted last week?
