How hard can be it be to sell a car :/

That just screams "I've spent as little as possible on this car while i've had it." Just fit it and say it's got a CD player.

no it screams me having no radio in it for 12 months and just getting one to sell the car

If you want it gone quickly how about 'We buy any car'?

As for the no test drives, that is just plain stupid. How is the prospective purchaser able to tell how the brakes, clutch, gearbox and steering feel from the passenger seat?

So your advert is no good, you're too lazy to change it, but want the car gone as soon as possible.

Good luck.

Take better pics, take Jez's advice on the wording, clean the interior (before taking pictures), fit the CD player and knock the price down to £599

Looks a tidyish car, but the price you've advertised makes it seem like a shed, I'd had tried it at £995 and then taken offers, at this price it seems like you want to get shut quick for the wrong reasons.

I think the real problem is the fact that its an old celica. The kids who want a cheap fast jap car cant insure it and enuthiasts would spend out on a good one.

It aint that bad to insure, I pay less for it at 22 than Janesy B pays for his Fiesta (though he is in a crappy postcode).

It's a 150bhp 2L cruiser, with a good engine/exhaust note even at stock :D

EDIT: Plus it is the best looking "modern" Celica

Is this thread a wind up?

Is putting effort in to sell it because he spent 6 hours polishing it but is too lazy to snap some pics....

Thinks nobody needs to test drive it and you can tell if it's a good one from the passenger seat.

Yeah, wind up thread.

I was perfectly happy buying an SW20 without driving it, the owner came across as a decent guy, and being driven around by him redlining the gears was enough for me, since it's his car he was prepared to do that, and to give it some welly in the corners.
Are you telling me that if you were going to test drive say an S2000 you'd redline it 1-3/4 and get the arse out? I think not

There aren't really any Celica's within £100 of mine that have more than 6 months tax (ok, there are probably the odd few)

Badly worded, bad pictures. Get some pictures which show the car properly, dont cut parts of it off etc.

How about this

'120,600 miles, 1992 UK Model, 3 Door Hatchback, Petrol, Manual, Electric Sunroof, Alarm, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, 6 Months MOT (October '10), Tax included. Extensive collection of receipts, maintained to a very high standard by enthusiast owner, just had major service including brand new brakes, new tyres all round. Recently fitted upgraded CD & MP3 player. Bodywork in very good condition, unlike many this car is rust free. Please leave me a Voicemail message if my telephone is unavailable, unfortunately my employer is not mobile friendly. £650 for quick sale due to company car arrival in coming weeks.'

Change the wording to the above, you really do not sell the car at all with your text.

The problem with this though Jez is that its just not true - the car has 'some history', it has not been 'maintained to a very high standard by an enthusiast owner', nor has it had a full service, merely an oil change! Though I appreciate what you're saying in that the original advert does not really sell it!

Getting the stereo installed is a must if its a simple job, rather than chucking a cheapy in, though on some Japanese cars it is not as straightforward as you might assume (OEM head units bolted in behind the dashboard necessitating a great deal of trim removal :().

It would be a simpler if there was a plug and play harness, but there isn't which means I need to work out what all the wires do :/

I took it out, warmed it up then red lined plenty of gears gratuitously. Pushed it as hard as I was comfortable with having not really known the car.

You were happy not driving a purchase, I would not be. Imagine you're "testing" my S2000, in the passenger seat.

Say I've got hub nut issues, and a nasty metallic rattle at certain rev ranges. I know how to drive and mask it all, you will never know better. After all, I am selling as seen and if you do not notice it because you did not drive - tough luck.

You need to look at it from a buyer point of view. You are SELLING your car, you are not buying it. You are entitled to your opinion - as are your potential buyers. Many of which will not like the idea they cannot test drive the vehicle in question.
