Fighting Penalty Charge Notice

Go drive into the zone, then ring them in the evening, give them your reg, then pay them £8. Simple. :)

All automated and you have 24 hours to pay.

I got a parking ticket a few weeks ago for parking in a bus lane during the clearway times, i didnt realise it was a clearway as it had it's own parking bays drawn out on the road.

Anyway i paid the fine as it was my own stupid fault.

Few days later i thought... damn machine shouldnt have taken my money if it was a clearway, im gonna try get my £2 back!
Made a complaint and the guy investigating it noticed that the ticket was issued to the wrong street so was invalid!! Got my £30 refunded :)
Didnt get the £2 though :(

/moral of the story, being a troll can sometimes pay off....

Say you didn't notice the signs. Then they'd drop the £60 CC fine, and hit you with a TS50 - ignoring road signs, give u a £60 fine + 3 points :p lol!

Fight it on the grounds that you were driving 'without due care and attention, to the point of careless driving' and thus couldn't see the clearly demarkated signs and region which limit the congestion zone.

Or else pay the fine and be done with it.

you can actually pay the charge up until midnight on the next charging day. so if you drove in on a friday morning, you have until monday midnight to pay up. Though it does go up by £2 if you leave it until the day after you drove in.

for anyone wondering how they decide when it starts and ends and what happens if your clock is fast or slow, the zone is timed to match the speaking clock. If your clock matches that then you'll always be fine.
