Phenom II X6

The 1055t is the low end CPU..
That's 35 more expensive than an i5 can be found for.

Then the high end is slated at 250?
Yes... Brilliant prices...

I'd have expected the 1055t at 130, and the 1090T at 180.

I'd have bought it at that.

I have an asus 890FX rocking in my case, now on my 965, pointless getting a 1090T .

How much is Intel's 6-core again? :p

/troll

£170 odd for a CPU seems pretty reasonable, it should outperform the i5 750 anyway right?

Not the point is it?
I'm a big AMD fan as any.
But to charge a premium when you're the one with the lower performing clock for clock chips, with the chips that don't clock as high?

The 1055 has been OC'd to 4.2GHz already in one of the very few CPU reviews, it is equal to a Phenom II x4, just with x2 cores more and turbo boost.

£250 for the high end hex core AMD compared to the £860 high end hex core Intel. Guess what it would be stupid to buy the Intel for a small increase unless you do tons of encoding using the hyper threading.

You'll see Monday.
I predict 169.99 for the 1055T.
250 for the 1090T..

How is 250 quid NOT a premium?

I'm not sure on the prices, but the lower x6 are apparently aiming to match the i5 750, so I'd expect the higher ones to be the same price of lower to mid i7's and stop in price until x8, or prices go down

Wait and see.
It's just a Phenom II with 6 cores.
Same clock for clock performance.
So in anything limited to 4 threads i7 still woops it.
And, we haven't seen any real world performance i7 with 6 threads (4 physical cores, 2 from the HT) again the 1090T.

Has been tested stable on prime, and superPI but nothing else that pushes it.

Either way, seems as easy to OC as the Phenom II x4's, not as easy as Intel, but still -- lower clock = 0

Compare my 965 to others.
Not many get the same clocks I do at my voltage..

I.E, they vary.

As it stands, I've got the funds, and the board for the 1090T.
And I'll probably maybe end up getting one..

But that's only because I only go for AMD flagships lol.

Obviously they vary, but AMD Phenom II's seem to be hard to reach 4GHz stable, people struggling all the time or being satisfied with 3.8 and stopping.

Not many people can get 4GHz plus on i7 with under 1.3v but I found that pretty easy.

Seems that we won't see performance rise that much in games for a while with the x6 over the x4, but for price comparison I'd probably go for x6 over i5 750, but i7 900's over all

Martini, wait and see what the retail x6's are like, then decide if spending £169 ish on a 6 core that i reckon can do 4ghz stable, is worth it.
