Eurogamer Expo 2010

If I buy a ticket for two different days, but dont attend one of those days, can I sell the ticket on? Or is that not allowed? (for the same price ofcourse!)

Definately want to go to this. Never been to a games show before and think it would be interesting. Has anyone been to this event before? Is it any good? Worth going for the three days or just one?

Good question. Can anyone answer? Is it the same spiel each of the 3 days or different stuff?

I went both years, so far, in London.

"Downstairs" you have games on demo stations, Wii's, 360's and PS3's and a few PCs all running demos etc.

A couple of Arcade titles might be there, SF4 was there when I went, both years.

A few games may have small competitiotions or tournaments runnning, but most of it is just queue up and play demos (or full games)

Some of the games have PR/Marketting people with them. Some games are in "over 18" areas.

"Upstairs" they have some game design/development discussions/talks that you book and listen to some industry folk talk about. Also upstairs a lot of games studios are present in booths and advertise about "careers" etc and give away bits and bobs.

Same stuff everyday, the format does not really lend itself to having different stuff everyday.

Thanks rp. We're there any freebies, giveaways etc?

Also:

Any ideas?

The tickets are barcodes that you print out from their webpage, with your name on it and unique barcode. Upon entrance they just scan and look at you, so might or might not be an issue (i.e. if it is a Girls name and a bloke entering?), hard to tell, but the tickets are individualised, to discourage reselling, I guess.

There were many more freebies in year one than year two, so I expect even less in year three :) Most freebies where in the Careers fair, Stationary with game branding, branded drawstring bags, yoyos, and other small things like keyrings etc.

I know this year they give a lot of stuff to the 1st few people in the queue, but they got there like 4-5 hours before the event opened!!! (Think the 1st guy got a PSP and the rest got some games).

Ah I see ok thanks!
This starts off at 11am right? Do the queues get quite long you say?

Year one, I went in the afternoon and there was no queues to get in and only SFIV and Gears 2 had long queues.

Year two I arrived maybe 15 minutes before it opened and the queue was 100's of people already. Once inside queues were same as year one, although there was a lot more machines setup

I am guessing longer queues as the venue gets bigger and more publicity every year. Even so, in 4-5 hours max you could easily play most of the games on show (bear in mind most will be games already/just released, and the rest will be demos)

Gah, might have to photoshop a copy of my passport to say im 18 :o

"As a change from previous years, the 2010 Expo will allow kids of any age who are accompanied by an adult. It will be the responsibility of the adult to decide what the person under 15 plays. Be prepared to be ID checked before being issued a pass on the day and denied entry without the right proof of age. Sorry.

In addition there will be several 18+ rated games at the show and only visitors of 18 years or above will be able to play these titles."

The security guards in front of the 18+ areas, are very firm, I recall seeing a couple of goth teenager types trying to blag it and them having none of it. Violence was narrowly avoided due to one party forgetting their keyboards at home.

Are Train tickets normally this expensive? I'm looking at travelling from Crewe to London St Pancreas for the Expo.

I've had a look at a few train websites, and they don't have October on the timetable yet, so just tried it for a random Saturday in May I think, and prices were around £70 for a single!

Is that right, or is there a way of getting cheap tickets? I've never really travelled by train before!

Righto thanks rp.

You going this year btw?

Probably, although haven't got round to booking tickets yet. Probably go on a Friday like usual, no school kids.

£60.10 return, still seems like a lot, but like you I do not use Trains much.

Went last year got my tickets on the door, thought it wasnt bad, not as good as the play live show the other year at Wembley though. Prob go this year if i get the time off work and if there is anything there going to be worth playing. Last year GOW3 and Heavy Rain were the only reason I went, perhaps this year it will have Natal/move stuff to play around with and GT5 if its not out by then. I would love a last guardian playable demo that is my most wanted game at the moment.

Ahh i won't be going with an adult, suppose the 16+ games will have to do :(

Edit: I don't suppose my friend could approve of me playing as she would be 18 by october.

Time for a bump.

No new news from the Expo site but I am presuming that a lot of the stuff at E3 will be on display for the Expo in October.

Would like to go again this year, but can't really justify the cost of rail fare and hotels. I just wish they were doing another one up north, or even the Midlands.
