AMD Phenom II X6 1055T & 1090T Reviews

well my new 6 core toy just arrived so wish me luck

ewww that sounds a bit rude a fella saying that :eek:

if you hear singing ' smoke gets in your eyes' you will know me board smoked it :mad:

Someone dial 999 for me Im having a heart attack ........

Just popped the X6 in and rebooted to be greated by ..
BEEP
BEEP
BEEP
BEEP
BEEP
reboot and repeat :eek:

checked all the fan connections and to see if I had dislodged anything and everything seamed OK...

reset the BIOS ( pain in rear as have to remove GPU to get at the button :rolleyes: )

decided to take cpu out and check it .. everything looked OK from above ... spooted a little grey bit among the pins ... turns out a little blob of fluff got onto the pins before I put the cpu in the socket ... :o

anyway gently got rid of fluff re-assembled and BANG Im typing on 6 cores :cool:

@stock 3.2 my idle is ... wait for it .. reported by AMD Overdrive .... using an H50 ... single fan blowing in .... 19.5C ... ambient room temperature measured by a room thermometer ... 26.5C

stock Idle VID = 1.225 but not stressed it yet

wheres that ambulance and tasty looking female paramedic I need :D

gg on breaking physics ;) :p

well AMD Overdrive may not be the best tool for the job :p

After 5 mins or so 100% load x264 encoding the temps have settles @ 35.5C all @ stock clocks

from what I can tell from my experience of the software Im using the X6 is beating the i7 920 but only just (my 920 is at 3.2Ghz) ... probably only 2 or 3 fps in it but of course the X^ would fly ahead at this task if it had the same overclock

more testing and then see what AMD Overdrive can clock it too :eek:

overdrive:eek: get in the bios u lazy man and do it the good old fashioned way

good luck on your overclock journey keep that fire extinguisher handy

core temps = fake...

using HWMonitor, TMPIN0 or TMPIN1

fair enough I bow to your experience ... remember I am not an overclocker in general so have no clue what Im doing ( thats my excuse and Im sticking to it so na na nee na )

TMPIN0 = 39
TMPIN1 = 42

does that sound more realistic ?

:cool:

Cozzy

one is motherboard and the other is the real cpu temp...

u have the same motherboard as me? if so, its TMPIN0 = motherboard, TMPIN1 = cpu

thx for the info .. always good to learn new things .. will get the Idle temps soon but those are stock all cores maxed encoding.

AMD Overdrive measured the 965@stock maxing out at 44C encoding , X6 is measured as 36C but then the board BIOS isnt 100% yet as its not reporting any fan speeds

still personally mark the X6 as a shade faster at encoing than an i7 920 at the same clock speed but only just but the temps are lower , the voltage is lower and there is room for improvement in BIOS and software to come for the X6

Cozzy

Edit Idle temps - TMPIN0 = 38 C - TMPIN1 = 29 C - room temp is still 26.5 C (in the shade) blooming south facing windows

now i've upped the voltage to 1.425v because prime crashed after 2hours.

i hope it's not a temp issue.... TMPIN1 cpu temp max out at 48c, core temp max out at 41c, TMPIN2 (no idea what it is) max out at 56c

thats if those temps are true

My Prime was crashing after 2 hours too..
And exactly aroun 2-2 and a half hours.

Currently 2 hours 20 minutes into this current prime blend.

your on the same board as me and my temps have been higher with higher vcore so I doubt its the temps ...

my chip wasnt stable @ less than 1.47 as read by HWMonitor which is a setting of 1.45vcore in the BIOS .. passed OCCT and IBT now on prime so will let you know in 90 mins or so if gets pasted 2hours barrier

I'm on the 2 and a half hour barrier almost now.
