*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

May have missed something obvious here, but I'm thinking of getting on of these and would like to know:

I don't HAVE to sync contacts with my facebook do I? I want to be able to browse facebook. But I don't want everyone I have on there added into my phone's contacts for when I want to call/text people.

Hi Jay :)

I don't use Facebook and so haven't bothered setting any of this synchronisation up on mine. I don't see why you couldn't still use the Android Facebook app and leave the Desire's synchronisation disabled, which seems to be what you're after.

As for the black edition, I can't see it being that much different to the standard one tbh. The "metallic brown-ish" bezel is so dark that the phone as a whole looks pretty black already and, even close up, I kind of like the contrast between the bezel and the rest of the (black) case.

Just called Mobiles.co.uk

They have over 500 in stock on Orange.

Couldn't even get through to Dialaphone.

Was impressed by how efficient Mobiles.co.uk's customer service is. Hello *question* Answer *cheers* Bye. :D

Just got my call from 3 retentions. Managed to get:

Free Desire
500mins
unlimited texts
1gb data

£18.75/month for 24months

Thats the deal i got with 3.

Had a bit of trouble originally, that i've had to wait to today to get my data package, but thats sorted now.
And when i got the letter summarising my deal, it said i had a £10 landline package, but no texts. But after a surprisingly smooth call i got it changed.

The good thing on the letter says my contract is only 18months!

So my deal that i thought couldnt get any better, just did :D

I caved. After another, longer nice chat with Mobiles.co.uk, I've ordered it on Orange on a 24 month contract for £25/month with 8 months half price.

Works out at £12.50/month.

Already been accepted by the network. (Good email order updates)

Being dispatched tomorrow for delivery via DHL on Friday.

Aw man, how long ago did you get this? did you request your PAC and get a call back?

Bleh, now I'm annoyed, I've have 2 contracts with 3 for 3 years (haha) and didn't get offered anything like this

Works out at just over £20 a month for 24 months - £500 total for 2 years ... not bad at all

But £500 overall, so depending on the minutes/texts, not as good as the Voda Quidco deal.

And 24 month contracts are utterly evil.

cool :D

£20.83/mo after redemption.
Shame it's a 24month contract but still brilliant if u want the phone quickly & don't mind having it for 24months

Battery life is pretty impressive when using satnav via Google Maps Navigation. I spent 45 minutes driving home from work this afternoon and the whole time had Nav routing me to a point near my home and according to Android's battery usage section the Maps app only used 10% of the battery. Cell standby (HSPA) used less than 5%.

I was connected via HSPA at all times with at least 2 or 3 bars reception.

So I could probably get around 450 minutes of navigation time using Google Maps on teh road as long as reception is half decent. Compared to standalone satnav units and other GPS phones that's something special!

works out to 580 over the course of 2 years with 100 mins, you'd be better going for the quidco route on a 35 pm contract with 600 mins, unlim texts and net (500mb). 630 but with 150 cashback works out to 480.

Picked up mine today (SIM free), not going to bother rooting it just yet I'll wait another week or so probably.

Has anyone had any trouble getting the device/sd card to show up via Windows media player at all? Had no issues when the SD card was mounted with the Hero, but WMP isn't seeing it at all on the Desire - yet explorer picks it up fine?

Got offered 100 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited (500mb) internet for £20 per month plus £100 for the handset on Voda. 24 month contract.

Good deal ?

Sorry got it wrong. The deal is
100 mins, unlimited texts, (500mb) internet for £15 per month plus £100 for the handset on Voda. 24 month contract.

.. or £20 per month plus £95 for 18 month contract which seems worse.

Good deal ?

So just to clarify where's the best place to get one of these? Also whats this quidco business, never heard of it :)

Don't really need more than 300mins really as I text more than talk. £30 is about the max I want to pay and would prefer an 18month contract. The mobiles.co.uk deal looks perfect for me with the 8months 1/2 price line rental aswell (do you actually pay £12.50 for 8 months?).

Obviously if there are better deals out there don't be afraid to share :)
