Make the new steam UI look good

I don't get it, he claims his UI is easier to read because he's made them bolder, but in doing so he also made it small and closer together... which made it harder to read than it was in the first place...

I didn't mind the skin style of the new steam, just didn't like the fonts on the friends list so made a mini skin which changes the font to the one used in previous steam and also made certain fonts bold and larger :D
I've made a mini skin to fix the font type, size & colours.
Also included the original steam sound.

You can download the skin from here

This is a skin for Steam somebody's made on the official forums, I've just installed it and the improvement over Valve's skin is staggering. All you need to do is copy a folder and select it in Steam settings.
If anything the 'enhanced' one in the screenshot has some really hard to read fonts on the ingame part

I really like it, the fonts on the ingame friends list are a bit small but the rest makes up for it. It's a lot sharper and smarter IMO. I use steam a lot, for IM and all my game shortcuts, and I didn't really like all the gradients on the valve one.

whats wrong with valves or am I missing something

Can't you see the difference from the OP? Valve's original deal incites nausea and self-loathing, whereas this skin inspires joy and peace, and nigh-on triples your sperm count when perused for 20 minutes a day. Anyone could see that.

Can one make the last date played and other dates appear in UK date (DD/MM/YY) format, rather than BS US date (MM/DD/YY) format? Why they can't make use of local settings for such things bewilders me.
Also can you set steam to load on the games page, rather than the adverts page?

We have been able to set the games page as the default from the very first incarnation of Steam.
Steam - Settings - Interface - Favourite Window -> Library.

I cna see the difference what they added or redone, but I m not sure if I like it
