Does anyone else's cat still do this?

From my knowledge, cats which had been taken away from the mother too early tends to do it. no source on this, just what i heard. Lots of local visiting cars ( homeless) do it around my friends area ( student house in middle of cov).

The gf is suggesting that this is common when the kittens are taken from the mother too early.

I have no idea myself as none of our cats ever did it

Well, the kitten I've got at the moment doesn't seem to suckle anything... yet, but he does seem to purr at the most strange things. I picked him up by his neck a while ago and he just started purring. Odd bugger.

I always thought that the padding and the picking a cat up by the scruff of its neck thing were 2 very inherent characteristics of being kittens that they carried on doing through life. Much like Humans "foetal position" and crying into a pillow under a cold shower (maybe that last one is just me?)

In some ways a domestic cat's whole life is just an extended kittenhood, right?

hehe i guess so, maybe wild cats do do it too? Maybe its a sign of dominance and submission too ?

Time to google ;) and become a qualified cat psychiatrist

Kneading is normal but the OP's cat is actually trying to suckle him. I've never seen that.

One of my old cats used to do it, right through till he died at 20 odd. Its not the same as the regular kneading, lap shredding behaviour. It usually left you with a big damp patch of cat drool on you. :( I also remember he used to unfailingly do it if my mum was wearing a mohair jumper.

He was taken away from his mummy cat (is there a word for it? :D) at a very young age (she died) so we reckon that's why he never grew out of it. How old was the OP's kitten when he got him?

Could possibly be this... we got him from a pet shop who told us he was 5/6 weeks old, but when we took him to the vets for an injury (he fell off the sofa and dislocated his leg which I popped back in) the vet told us he would have been younger than that.

He has tried my armpit in the morning too (yum) but i'm too tickly... plus he covers me in drool when he does this

Can anyone explain to me why my cat does this but while he is doing it he thrusts himself forward like he is trying to have sex? neutered as well by the way. Very odd by funny to watch lol.

Does his member come out too, and do his eyes roll back in a trance like state? I've never let him do it for more than 30 seconds or so, I'm terrified he'll 'splooge' on me.
My cat does it, as I said earlier - it's horrifying :(

Nah I haven't seen any 'member' pop out when he does this (as he is neutered) yet he still has a good thrust forward multiple times and yeah his eyes do roll back as well as his ears too. It's really bizarre because he is 8yrs old.

My cat has been neutered too, but 'it' still comes out.
Mine is 13, I thought it was only him that did it. I, or any of my friends, have never seen another cat do it. Ugh!
