Would you do this for 5.95 per hour?

Then you dumb it down more. It is easy to dumb down a cv, just lie and say you have been travelling or something.
Certain places are always crying out for workers. Hard manual labour jobs and places like slaughter houses. Just takes people to go and find them and go to every agency in person.
And get a pushbike/moped so you can include a 15-20mile radius.

If only it was that easy... saying you've been travelling, etc. just raises suspicions and they start thinking "hes done time", etc. and you can't just leave a large block of unaccounted time on your CV either, once you start lying you inevitably get caught out and its even harder to get another job.

Your ideals are nice and all but don't apply to the real world...

It's better than being unemployed ot relying on state benefits. £250 a week for sorting the mail isn't that bad, better than £60 on JSA thats for sure.

well thats the thing these days, it would be better if people just got the JSA and would force more people into work, but it simply doesnt just stop at JSA. you get lots of other handouts aswel such as free council tax, and sometimes it works better not to work which is why this country is such a mess...

Yes, I do pretty much the same at TNT and I love it, nice and easy work, you can come in drunk or high and they wouldn't notice, lots of young girls and other people of my age. Earn money while not doing anything hard at all while chatting to someone constantly.
I get paid a bit more though and it's more and more the older I get ( at 23 it'd be 11 or 12 € per hour I think).

Awesome working hours ( non of that during day rubbish, I got uni to attend to and other stuff to do during daytime thanks).

It easily beats working in a supermarket/other shop or fast food joint, I get coffee money and commute money and they pay 20% extra for working in the evening, and 40% extra for past 11pm.

In fact, I see no reason why one wouldn't like it, good working hours, good pay and good company and you can be in dreamland and still do your job well.
My working hours are a tad more rubbish though, 6.30 to 9.45 pm, if I found a similar night shift I'd do that without second thoughts.

I blame the job center as much as the people taking advantage of the system, it seems to be geared up to make it as hard as possible for people geniunely in need of the system and tryign to find work while a doddle for the dishonest to work around while not being held accountable for whether they get their benefits or not in any significant way.

As for myself and the job in question - if I was unemployed and it was daytime hours I'd jump on it, but I'm simply not adjusting my body clock that much for £5.95p/h and I wouldn't ask or expect anyone else to either.

Shock as snowdog posts about something totally irrelevent.

This job wont pay commute money, nor 40% extra for past 11pm

If it was paid at +40% after 11pm that would be an entirely different matter... and halfway inline with reasonable.

Aside from that I'm paid more, the job description sounds exactly like mine, I'd still do it for 6 quid ph. It beats filling shelves or working at maccy d's. Unless you get paid more for that in the UK, but seeing my 19 year old mate works for 4.25€ ph at maccy d, and seeing he has to do rubbish work like emptying the bins, cleaning, etc, it's like comparing heaven and hell.

At least he isnt at work at 4am.

Aside from the hours, and pay, what puts you guys off ?

I'm not either ( the worst time we were done was 11.30 pm once), but what is wrong with working at 4am, working at 4pm beats working at 8-11 am.

Night shifts over day shifts any time.

Errr aside from the two biggest factors?

So fun, the ease of work, and the team you work with is completely unimportant to you ? Having a couple of good mates work where you work makes a massive difference.
