*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Not sure if you can from the phone but in Google Mail you can do this easily.

Yeah its good but the syncing keep adding email addys even though all my phone contacts are under friends in gmail which is strange, so I just exported a vCard onto my SD and imported under the settings menu in people and it worked a treat!

I haven't added "Gmail" or "Facebook for HTC Sense" under "Accounts and sync" as it just keeps messing up as I can't select hyperlinks from emails via it so I just added my addy via Mail and its working fine now, and also with Facebook it just added the contacts which I couldn't get rid of without an erase, they kept showing up as I composed a message, and were still there even when I un-ticked auto sync/deleting account etc so I'm just not bothering with it for now.

Great stuff! Glad you sorted it bud.

GMail is near instant. I can get email notifications on my phone a moment before they appear on my PC.

Ah right, well it says 5 minutes as minimum in the menu, no complaining there then, maybe I won't miss my BB as much as I only used Gmail on that anyway!

I don't have a time on my gmail. Nor should you. Gmail is push notification (though some may claim it is simulated push - either way it is pretty much instant with very little power draw which is the whole point of push). Are you using Mail rather than Gmail?

Right well since I can get about £275 for my 16gb 3gs through these recycling sites, could get more on the bay, but less hassle.

So pretty much set on getting the desire, but have some questions:

1. Can the Desire deal with multiple exchange accounts? as I will have my works account and gmail account synced with Exchange.

2. Does it keep the calendar and contacts as separate or does it merge them?

3. Any way to import my SMS from my iphone?

4. How do you manage the music on it? I use itunes at the moment with the iphone, do I just drag and drop?

5. Do you need to use the HTC Sync app? What does it do for you?

I think that is all my questions answered for now :)

Cheers

Kimbie

Yes because I can't select hyperlinks through the gmail app which is annoying, do you have this problem?

Just use Google Mail with the inbuilt GMail app and use your exchange account with the mail app.

2. Does it keep the calendar and contacts as separate or does it merge them?

No, they are merged into one view. But they are colour coded depending on the source.

3. Any way to import my SMS from my iphone?

Not sure. Must be an export app for the iphone? And maybe an import one for Android. Copy to the SIM first?

4. How do you manage the music on it? I use itunes at the moment with the iphone, do I just drag and drop?

Just drag and drop onto the SD of the phone as if you were copying to a memory stick.

5. Do you need to use the HTC Sync app? What does it do for you?

HTC sync allows you to tether your phone to your PC and use it for internet connection sharing. It allows you sych your contacts etc... to a non-exchange configured Outlook profile.

Not sure how true this link is but the tariffs seem pretty poor compared to orange and other networks.

Is anyone else on orange and are they ok ?

i went with orange via carphone warehouse a couple of weeks ago..(no branding/orange software on phone unlike orange direct) ..just couldn't wait for o2 (even before their delays) and have slightly better deal looking at that tariff info..wanted the all black via orange but couldn't wait for that either! just left my old number with o2 on simplicity. Am ok with orange, signal fine around my area.:)

Out of space already and have barely any apps installed :(

Ive installed about 10-15 apps and i still have over 50mb of space left on my phone:confused:...saying that though i did have more but took them off as i didnt see the use of them..i only keep the apps i use constantly on my Desire.

Hopefully HTC/Android will fix that memory issue where you dont get the full amount allocated.

As mentioned in another thread, I've gone for O2 through Carphone Warhouse (OneStopPhoneShop). It's free phone with £30 / month 600 mins, unlimited texts 24 month contract plus unlimited web browsing plugin for £7.50. That seems a little pricey until you factor in that the first 13 months are half price. So it will work out just under £30 over the duration of the contract (£21-22 ignoring the web plugin).

It does mean I have to faff around with claiming rebates every few months but it's a lot cheaper than the official rates that O2 have publicised.

Ok, getting very ANNOYED now.

I can't get rid of the facebook contacts, when I go to compose a text message its showing all of the contacts, I have tried deleting the account and also un-ticking sync contacts which isn't working.
