Call of Duty: Black Ops

Looks good. Pity its not fully set in Vietnam like the rumors said awhile back, but hey hopefully Treyarch will learn from the mistakes of MW2. Can't wait to try it.

Looks very Vietnam from the trailer just like we expected, although I paused it at a few points and I swear I saw a Steyr AUG which wasn't even designed in the Vietnam era.

Its not based in Vietnam. Think it will probably consist of flashbacks to various wars, Vietnam being one.

Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done! From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam, Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!

That was on GAME's original pre-order page (text has been removed now).

Kotaku reckon:
You'll partake in the "birth of special forces" via some action in jungles and snow, some helicopter flying, something onboard an SR-71 Blackbird spy craft (hence the "astronaut" pictured above) and some exploding villages, all featuring decidedly 20th-century weaponry.

Most intriguing, though, were hints at some present-day content as well, a clock in the hospital/lab that features throughout clearly showing a 2010 date.

Obviously everything is still rumour atm

This should make the Multiplayer very interesting, maybe different maps locked to eras and weopons from that era or a medley of weapons or maybe both, certainly bring a new aspect to the franchise which its in big need of, could be full of win!

Yeah good call. Just Vietnam era should provide a good selection of weapons shouldn't it?

This trailer lacked a zombie flash IMO :D

WAW was my favorite COD for MP, I would like to see Treyarch do their own thing and not follow on from MW2 MP design. Ideally I'd like to see a cut back in the kill streak department.

Mistakes? MW2 was the most profitable game in History, and Activision and Treyarch exist to make money, if Treyarch tries to do anything new it always fails, for example every mission in WaW was ripped from a movie, they're not too great at being imaginative tbh.

WaW multiplayer was better than MW2's. I and everyone else doesn't care about the money they make, we care about the game itself. MW2 had and still has major issues. Going from MW1 to MW2 was a massive downgrade.

Treyarch are laughing right now because they can fix everything that was wrong with MW2's multiplayer. It will have dedicated servers for one.

I loved WaW, IMO the online was as good as/if not better than CoD4. Didn't play core so I didn't really experience the one real gripe people had with it - the MP 40. Knocked up a good 20-22 hours online and could have happily went on and on but for everyone leaving to play the great big FAIL that is MW2.

Treyarch know what they are doing, their number one priority is the community and its obvious. More than confident this game will be excellent.
