New to machine polishing advice needed

Just looked at your Rotary, 2-3 is way way too high. Starting speed is 1400 on yours.

Mine is 900 and estimate speed @ 1.5 is about 1500.

You must have been polishing at circa 2.5k+!!

No load speed of 1400. If this machine doesn't have a constant rpm circuit which i'll assume it doesn't then thats about the same as mine. 3-3.5 for correction is fine.

Anyway the hologramming is because you either used a harsh combo which won't finish down nicely or you didn't fully work the polish.
Tbh Farecla isn't a particularly good starting place for beginners. Even G10 can be tricky to finish down without hologramming. By comparison, Meguiars #205 is a pleasure to use, 105 is a great compound too I recommend trying them out. Autobrite are selling the 250ml bottles again now if you don't want to spend out on the huge bottles.

can only find huge bottles of the #205

also, one I find a combination of polish/pad what is the score re keeping it wet ?

Gosh learnt so much from this thread my car is gonna look great

you have the right idea, learn before you start :p

having said that the TT does look loads better than before I first did it, the metallic in the paint is loads more prominent

don't see a lot of point touching the Porsche as the paint is in good nick anyway

G6 is actually pretty coarse stuff. G3 is more friendly, and to be honest unless you're correcting paintwork errors such as runs or orange peel G10 is all you should need. It will take longer to get the desired result, but at least you're less likely to go through the laquer.

Picked up some polishing/finishing pads

a quick going over using these and some auto glym super resin polish and all the hologramming as gone and it looks amazing ( well I have done a couple of panels so far and will finish over weekend ) :D

Thanks folks
