How fast does your car depreciate?

Probably appreciated slightly, paid £500 for a mk2 mondeo 2.0 zetec and is in slightly better condition having spent some money on consumables.

Sure but your car will be either an MY2007 or an MY2008 - MY stands for Model Year. Can't remember offhand whether the LCI E60 was classified MY07 or MY08, but you get the idea.

MY07. I'm trying to find a decent one now - not easy.

There's some debate on that because in the states according to BMW docs the LCI was released as MY08 in March 07 (build date). That means that MY07 which was released in Sept 2006 only lasted 6 months. Never found anything about the Euro LCI so don't know if its a different MY, I would doubt it is though.

Worth about the same as when I bought it, but then that was 9 weeks ago. But I have just spent towards £1500 on a fair chunk of work.

Wow, new Fiestas are holding their value well. Around £3.6p a day.

The VW has at least doubled in value, but then its taken a lot of work to do that.

I "Think" i have made money on mine :D

Vauxhall Astra 1.7 DTi 16V LS 5d (AC)

Bought it from the wife's dad 3 years ago for £700 and have put 57k on to it, so it has higher than average mileage but is in good condition with full history etc..

According to Parkers its probably worth £800 - £1000 so i am onto a winner.

So even if it sold for £800 i think it would still work out that i had made about 10p a day in profit

Euro LCI was started in April / May 07, however, the first cars didn't come to the UK market until August 2007. I have seen 2 '07 plate LCI 5ers. Not very many at all. Best bet to secure LCI is a 57 >

Interestingly, here are some other figures about my car which makes it seem odd.

New in Sept 2007, Purchase price = £46k
Worth now (30 months later) = £25k (give or take)

Ouch. Funny though that the biggest hit was its 1st year, some £17k and only a year and 6k miles old :(

Someone paid over 19k for my car new back in 2001 (MADNESS!) i picked it up when it was 6 years old for 3.6k iirc, so its lost (on average) over 2.5k per year.

Its now worth between 2.5k to 3k but the loss is greater due to the money i've thrown at it in bits.

Vauxhall Astra. It was 10k and around 6 months old when I got it 4 years ago. Despite being a 1.6 and getting on a bit now because it is a 3 door SXI they don't seem to go for less than 5k. :)

£3.40 a day.

not cheap but could be worse. Considering the amount petrol costs combined with insurance and being a new car needs little maintenance it isn't too bad.

£9.50 a day for the last 13 years.

£45,000 in 1997, £0 now (unless you break it for spares then it will probably get £2k)
