Which skies do you feel safer flying in?

Not really wanting to totally derail this thread, but seeing as it's up. Scuzi, I got into stage 3 of NATS selection, am doing it at the end of the month. What can I expect, and is there anything that I really should do/brush up on before hand?

It's been so long since I did it! Which is stage 3? Is that the interviews?

Does Spain want new air traffic controllers at much better salaries? Don't see how you could get any better than the British ones in the videos.

Scuzi, if you wanted some back patting I could have done that for you. ;)

This thread feels like TRUCE :(

Truce=emergency training for ATCOs.

I can't help you with stage 3 for recruitment...there wasn't a stage 3 in the 90's!!!!

However, interviews are now do by HR people not atcos so it's difficult to comment but make sure you know all the stuff in the info packs as you need to show motivation.

Be yourself, no BS. If you're suited then it'll help, if not, they'll see it and you won't get through which will do you a massive favour in the long run. Long hard training not to get through would suck big time. In the past you'd have a good chance of a cushy job in NATS as a failed ATCO....far less likely these days.

Back patting for what? I don't have aircraft on my frequency long enough for them to declare an emergency! I prefer to pass the buck :D

Like the way one of the other Russian pilots chips in and tells the controller to give the Swiss pilot a break haha. And just lol at ground control.

Was about to say the same thing myself...not very professional of the ATC/ATCs if another pilot has to chip in and tell them exactly what the Swiss pilot was trying to convey across.

There was an instructor during our trainig who was from Russia. If you ever did anything dangerous or stupid he would say in a strong Russian accent, "If you do that in Russia...... 15 years in the hole." :D

I know you don't really need one. I was just having a laugh because this thread could be construed as self congratulatory. :)

I'm fully with you on that....I walk around high fiving my self for my awesomeness:p

Here's a 146 pretty much falling out of the sky at London city:D

Pilot probably did a good job on this despite how it looks. Seems like there was a fairly hefty loss of airspeed from windshear at about 50feet.
