Googlemail dead...Gmail back

Looks like the @gmail.com email address is back after 5 yrs in the UK...a legal wrangle between google and a UK-based firm Independent International Investment Research, they originally stated that they had the rights to the @gmail.com email address.

Anyhow seems like they have settled now.

Good news

It doesn't really have any affect for me though as I registered an @gmail.com address back in 2004. I also noticed earlier today that the Gmail logo was showing in my inbox, rather than the Google Mail one. But it still says Google Mail and shows the Google Mail logo on the logon page.

Same here, have always had gmail.com as my email address.

No idea as it didnt give a figure but am glad they came to a settlement as i always thought googlemail.com was a bit too much to type out.

If you provide your email address as gmail.com but reply with googlemail.com, it's just not consistent. It's not a problem, just an annoyance.

GMail and most email clients auto-complete or have address books, so who cares if it is not consistent. Odds are you will only ever type someone's email address in its entirety once!
