Does anyone regularly buy used games?

^^ :D

In all seriousness, I do like to get a brand new copy of something that I really want, just can't beat the sensation of opening a brand new game, even the smell is brilliant!

That said, I do buy some pre-owned games, the girlfriend is working at gamestation while at university and there is quite a tasty staff discount on the pre-owned items. :p

I used to buy a few, but I've kind of stopped now. I'd rather support the developers and if that means paying a bit more (or waiting until it's at an acceptable price), so be it.

i usually pick up games on the cheap from the rainforest shop after they have came down in price to the price i've selected on GamesTracker.com.
Only ever had a problem once, when they sent out the dead rising box without the game.
the best was yet to come however as after i complained they sent out the disc in an unpadded brown envelope which royal mail had carefully snapped into three bits.. muppets

I never buy 2nd hand games. Not that I've got anything against them I just like knowing that all my games in my collection are in mint condition.

Thats an expensive mint condition collection.

I really don't see the problem with buying stuff second hand. If it works, then thats all that matters.

Everyone here probably has a car that is second/third hand.... Lives in a house that had a previous owner/family once live in.

Everything gets passed on by other hands, everything.

I've bought second-hand games before. Both for the current generation or retro games which I've wanted for an older format. I never buy second-hand from the high street, becuase the prices are so bad (i.e. just £5 less than a new game). Also as mentioned that money is not going back to the developer or publisher, but pure profit for the retailer, which does nothing for the videogame industry.

However auction sites, private forum sales are great - you know it's an individual pocketing a few quid.

But generally I buy most of my games new because I'm fussy on condition.

sure, if you are looking for 2nd hand games that have only just been released. i go for slightly older ones and have got some fantastic bargains because of it.

Most of my xbox 360 games were bought second hand from the MM here, Ebay or CeX. I only buy games new if they're on an awesome offer I cannot refuse (recently got a 'preowned' guitar hero 3 with guitar controller from Game's website for £9.99, when it arrived it was actually brand spanking new - amazing!)

I'm gonna be getting a PS3 soon and it'll be the first time i've ever owned a console. I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on buying games 2nd hand either on ebay or high street shops?

Do any of the high street shops let you inspect the disc before you buy it? And generally speaking, how durable are blue-ray discs?

Thanks.

I have bought a fair few games second hand via these forums, Amazon and in high street stores.

Multiple times I have asked for a better disc, or a better box and they usually provide the best they can find :)

Craig.
