Could someone explain why a certain party having more seats than the others isn't enough to win and why 326 is some sort of magical number?

Because 326 gives a party a majority (over half the seats in commons), allowing them to put through motions. Without a majority, parties must work together, leading to a hung parliament.

My Girlfriend worked from 5am until 2pm, then had to attend training until 6, then had a netball match to play. She managed to vote, but only just.

UPDATE - 600 people turned away in Chester as the sheets weren't up to date! Turned away as "they weren't registered"

BUT, there are only 649 seats up for grabs tonight because of my constituency in N Yorks delaying the vote.

Yes indeed, unless you're working a 15 hour shift you should not be making a fuss about not being able to vote.

I worked 9 hours today, with 2 hour comute to work and 2 back, that left me 2 hours to vote, i live in a village where there wasnt anyone else there, but in a big city with a 3 hour wait i woult have been ****ed.
