Quite disappointed how the Lib Dems got on, seemed like a 3 way race at the beginning, but that opinion polls for you

Lib Dems were doomed from the start due to first-past-the-post. PR would have provided a true 3-way race. The Lib Dems know this, which is why they've campaigned for PR. The other two main parties also know it, which is why they've never supported PR.

Labour's grand plan:

Get as many onto the pay roll, be it public sector pay or benefits. Get as many immigrants into the country as possible.

Then tell both groups above, if you don't vote Labour....Conservatives will screw you over and take it all away.

Such a shame :(

Brown is still PM. I suspect Labour are going to offer a STV/AV+ sweetener to the Lib Dems in exchange for support - and I hope Chancellor role for Cable.

Clegg should take it.

It's formally a hung parliament. Now we get to see how much Nick Clegg really values the opinion of the people... Especially as the Tories got a greater share of vote than labour did in 2005, and Labour got a smaller share of the vote than the Tories did in 2005...

I don't know why I bother voting with Labour so entrenched in Glasgow. Far too many on the benefits system to vote for anyone other than them here. :(

Ah well, at least we can laugh at the Murdoch press?

It still wouldn't form a majority government so they won't be able to get anything done.

Either conservatives and lib dem thrash out some kind of deal (unlikely) or we'll need another election.

Assuming of course that Labour + LD seats total more than 325. If they don't, they're going to have to make concessions to nationalists. That'd be tough to swallow for English voters.

pretty obvious isnt it???
CRASH!!!!

but the election results wont entirely be blamed for that.

Unless we have another election and a Tory maj. the debt will get higher and confidence lower. As the debt will still be growing while the parties argue and delay, the problem will be worse when it does have to be dealt with.

So what do we think we happen to the FTSE today?
