Just to make my point. If turnout somehow meant the vote for the winning party, even if 55% were too lazy to vote, the winning party can theoretically get 100% of the vote.

So the argument 55% didn't vote (or any percentage) is not an argument as to why vote for one party is less than a majority.

BREAKING NEWSLib Dem leader Nick Clegg says he sticks to his view that the party with most votes and seats - the Conservatives - should seek to form a government.

I was never one who was really that bothered about electoral reform but after this decking shambles I think the system needs overhauled.

Not even getting on to the issue of people not being able to actually vote the fact that this country could be left with Brown in charge and a coalition of losing parties (seat number losers) is disgusting.

I would love too see the actual percentage of votes per party if anyone has this information?

I was massively in favour of Electoral reform, and always have been. I voted LD on this basis, even though I think a lot of their policies are wishy washy madness.

Last I checked it was something like:

Tory: 10m votes 290 seats
Lab: 8m votes 250 seats
Lib: 6.5m votes 50 seats

This needs to be fixed.

ooo, I think a con/lib thing with electoral reform could actually be my ideal government. I mean if Dave starts acting funny Nick will say bye bye., but we may actually get some cuts out of it.

So Clegg goes with the public even though it's against all his policies?

Hopefully just leverage to oust Brown with his counter offer later in the week.

If Clegg does form a coalition with the Tories it just confirms that there really is no difference between any of the parties any more.

Clegg talks of the "Old Parties", well if you join the Tories you are no different.

The Lib Dems were formed to be at completely opposite end of politics spectrum compared with the Conservatives.

So how would forming a coalition with them stay true to this?

heh wow

The strength of the pound went down against all other currencies when a possible LIB/LABOUR was announced. Yet Lib just mentioned about a possible lib/con the strength of the pound increased.

Shuv that up your backside Labour , even the economy doesn't want you LOL
