This situation is ridiculous, if no party is the winner then people who voted for non winning parties should be able to change their vote to either lab or conservative, that way people who didn't get the government they want 100% eg lib dems, can vote for a government they want 90% ie the cons, rather than the government they hate ie lab.

Dudley North coming now...

Anyone remember that stupid BNP supporting woman the other week on Sky News?

edit------->

Labour hold Dudley North. BNP down around 3k! :D

That would, in essence, be the Alternative Vote system proposed by Labour.

Whilst I sip my water and try and make sense of what will happen..

..I am still, after all these hours, comforted by the fact that Jaqui Smith lost her seat.

But since many of the LD policies are incompatible with both Lab and Tory policies, what good is a vote for either of those if you sincerely support LD policies?

That system seems no different to the current system. You are guaranteed to have either Labour or the Torys in power.

Not to mention Malik and Opik too. If only Vaz, Balls and Harperson could have gone too.

The party that isn't turning this country into a police state of course, Conservative. It's not just policies that matter.

If you have a system where the % of votes determines the winner, then using this system 3 parties would have a decent chance of getting in, and AV would result in strong governments.
