Is my burn test working?

I just D/L'd Intel Burn Test so I can start OCing and wanted some basic stats first off.

However when I run it claims to be complete in miliseconds and I don't see any results!

Am I doing something wrong? (Specs in my sig)

Change the times to run to a higher value? Never got round to using IBT but I think its a good guess.

Gave it a go - ran 5 times (the min) and 20 times (the max) at max settings... I'm supposed to get a list of times etc according to the readme grrr. Also nothing happens... my CPu usage doesn't move from 0-1% and the CPu-Z shows it's still on quiet Speedstep half power modimajig...

Forgot to mention am running W7 64bit (I'm sure I've seen it used on YouTube on this OS).

Tis quite strange. If no solution to this I guess I'll have to check out some other software. I was trying to avoid Prime95.

(On a side note, is Idle supposed to use up 2GB of memory? :O )

Think I had this problem a few times. Try using Linx instead. Still uses linpack to heat your cpu but just has a different gui.

With ibt v2.4, i had to manually set thread count to 16 to get it to run, though LinX as suggested is a good alternative.

Windows keep things in memory in case you want to reopen them. It will free it up when you need it.

Well:

Tried setting the thread count manually - no change.

So, I got LinX and ran that... Only for nothing to happen!

I really don't get it. It's running but it's not working

Oh, and it won't 'stop' when I hit the button. I have to actually close the program altogether (if that means anything).

Well, I heard somewhere tat it might have been causing a problem that I was trying to use too much Memory in LinX. I tried turning that down and even lessened the problem size and left it longer, but still nothing.

It's not - Speedstep is enabled to save power when the system's doing very little. It books back up to full when it gets busy (yet another reason I know the test aren't working...)

Yup. I tend to run everything like that lol.

The OCCT program worked great! Thanks for that recommendation

No idea why the others didn't work though, how odd... Still, at least I have something to go with.
