Looks great, how much did they set you back?

The three hardbacks were Y2981 each and the other book was Y2381 (all plus 5% consumption tax of course).

I really should try to avoid going to Animate in Akihabara as they weren't the only purchases what with a couple of K-ON! artbooks, a couple of wallscrolls, misc other books, CD, misc stuff and magazines (including two (different) copies of Festival with dakimakuras).

Thanks for mentioning Kimi ni Todake, the art style is a little wierd, but although Ive only seen a couple of episodes it does seem really sweet in nature so I think Ill get on well with it.

Off on doc's orders so will probably use this to take up some time over the next few days. Had never heard of it before.

On another note can anyone recommend some good supernatural anime to watch (ghosts, vampires etc)? Doesnt have to be grim like Ive heard Higurashi can be.

Already seen a couple of series in this vein and would like to see more. :D

Maybe Ghost Hunt :)

Maybe Ghost Hunt :)

Yes, I thought Ghost Hunt was quite good. Not really genres I normally watch much but other possibilities:

Moonphase (not overly serious at times)
Witchhunter Robin
Hellsing

Stretching the supernatural aspect a bit possibly Fate/Stay Night as well

hmmmmm ..... just remembered that the latest Kimi ni Todake manga is in my work bag as it turned up on Friday ...

I quite enjoyed this when i watched it, also XXXHolic gets creepy at times even with the out of proportion clamp characters and comedy.

I'd also reccomend Mushishi which has got some excellent reviews from what ive seen.
Yes Mushishi was also creepy, ghosty supernaturalish (forgot that one)

Yeah the Shoujo genre artstyle. Character designs and especially the whole "watercolour" look is one of the most appealing things about them. It just fits perfectly well with the whole happy romance kind of thing.

I kinda like that style .... although not all anime's which use it of course.

Weekend of re-watches, (apart from latest K-ON!! and Working), with Nodame Cantabile and Aira The Origination ..... bliss ....

Just finished working my way through Stellvia, i quite enjoyed it as with the other XEBEC shows, not groundbreaking by any means but very enjoyable.

Its a shame that they won't be doing another series :( even though it was all obviously set up at the end for another season.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, have seen FSN and Hellsing (my brother showed me this one after I had the misfortune of seeing Twilight and being frustrated at how un-vampire like it was) already but will look at the others, let me know if you think of any other good ones, it doesnt have to be a particular genre, as long as it involves supernatural beasties haha :)

Interesting article on asahi.com about how it's been 30 years since Gunpla models started being sold.

I do find it quite surprising that they are still made in Japan and haven't had their production moved to cheaper countries.

Those artbooks are really nice, and the price doesn't seem bad either (according to XE).

Alex, for a supernatural Anime, Boogiepop phantom might fit in, it's creepy, slight odd (especially the way each episode tells a concurrent story, so you little things in one episode might be very important as part of another) :)

Yeah probably cause with regards to the likes of Master and especially Perfect Grade kits, they want to keep the designs as intricate and as accurately possible to the source material. There'll just be a loss of quality or other manufacturing deficts (Tainted materials or crappy knock-offs) if they go down the cheap route.

Me too wish for a second series ,but I doubt that it will happen after all these years :(

....

Looking at sites I have used the first of the hardbacks is available online from Japan for Y3600+shipping and they have the normal artbook available, second hand, for Y3700+shipping .... so it looks like it was a bit lucky picking them up, (resists urge to spend Y20k-Y30k on other second hand A__a books they have listed which look good).

Although Amazon JP do have the first three for Y3130 and the latter for Y2500 (all plus shipping etc .... )

anyone got any idea why no-where seems to be doing love hina manga anymore? GF needs 7 onwards but I can only find it 2nd hand!!
know anywhere?

I would guess it's out of print by now (quite a common issue I find with manga unless you can get hold of releases quite soon after they come out).

I've been burnt with this in the past too with other series .... can be annoying but I have had quite good luck in past finding things on the used market, (e.g. Chobits)
