...in a couple of weeks. Any advice?

I'm getting my car the same day (whether i pass or not) - so it's either gonna be an awesome day or the complete opposite.

Be friendly with the instructor.
Make it obvious that you are checking everything. Overly obvious.
Take it easy, if you think you've messed up just don't panic and carry on.

^ Agreed. Although I passed my test 20 years ago, I'm sure the obvious checking of mirrors etc is still solid advice. Do they still teach MSM - mirror, signal, manoeuvre? Make it crystal clear you're aware of your surroundings and are constantly checking everything.

Stay calm and be as friendly as the situation permits. Best of luck!

Of course they do! As above be nice to the examiner but don't chat away so much you concentrate less on driving! Make sure you're moving your head so that the examiner knows when you're looking in mirrors!

I passed a few weeks ago with no minors and basically the way to do it is just to concentrate. You need to remember ROI (road speed, observation, inidication). If you take you're time doing everything, then you can "waste" time during the test. For instance, don't accelerate overly quick.

Another example of what I did:

When I was asked to pull up somewhere conveniently (for pulling up on the left): left mirror, rear view mirror, indicate, left mirror, rear view mirror, pull in, handbrake, neutral, stop inidicator.

Then pulling out: Clutch, first, clutch to the bite, rear view mirror, right mirror, blind spot, indicate, handbrake, blindspot, pull out.

E2A: If possible get the 15:29 slot. Last slot of the day, examiners want to go home, so your test will be really short.

Depends on the areas. I wouldn't take that slot as there more kids on the pavements and they can be stupid, more cars on the road (school runs).

I'd go for either 10 or 11am if possible as the roads are pretty quiet around then (here anyway).

Be extra careful the first 15 minutes as that will be when your most nervous and likely to make a silly mistake. Just make sure your observing everything so your not caught out by other drivers bad mistakes.

All that seems unnecessary. Why not:
Interior mirror
Left Mirror
Signal
Manoeuvre
Handbrake
Neutral
Clear the signal

If asked to do a turn in the road or road a corner or into a space or parralell park, just remember to look ALL THE WAY ROUND the car before you start moving, and check again at each stop interval (on the 3 point turn for instance).

Constantly check your mirrors as he/she will be watching your eyes. Take your time, don't rush, don't panic.

Try not to get a rush hour slot. That helps.

Just do everything your instructor has told you, be confident (it's a piece of **** really, I done mine 2.5 years ago and got no minors).

It shouldn't really make a difference. Traffic is usually slower around that time, and they also keep off the main roads, because there is so much school run traffic around that time.

Interior mirror
Left Mirror
Signal
Manoeuvre
Handbrake
Neutral
Clear the signal

The more the merrier. The more you check your mirrors, the better. Observation is one of the easiest things to get a minor for.

Depends where you live. When I took my test my instructor specifically told me not to book the 15:29 slot because it's absolutely chaos in town with all the schools kicking out.
My test was around 11am which was perfect as I was able to practice for 2 hours before the test and it was pretty quiet on the roads. I also didn't have to sit around most of the day thinking about it.
I'd suggest you try and get a morning slot.

True but you don't want to get unnecessary hesitation as a result. The examiner will look for your mirror checks but will be expecting you to make good progress at the same time.

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, btw.

I managed to get a 135(ish) time because i figured it's around the end of lunchtime and not the end of school & work so the roads won't be too busy - less hazards and no kids running about.

Everyone i know has said similar things. Adjust mirrors so it's obvious when you're using them because you have to physically move to do so (within reason ofc), always checking your blind spots before/during/after manoeuvres, be friendly to the examiner, stay calm and dont panic so everything is fluid and smooth.

Thing is, all my mates who have failed in the past always seem to do so in situations they don't really have a lot of control over. I don't mind failing if it's my fault but not when some guy cuts me up and the examiner gets to his pedals a second before i do (which would obviously be the case as he's been driving at least 10 years...)

I'm aiming to get an earlier test though, i can't handle the stress and being so anxious about it for another two weeks. It's already been over a month....

I had the 10.10 slot a few weeks ago.

Just check the mirrors ALL the time, whenever the instructor says anything, look in a mirror!
Be smooth as you can with your steering, I failed my first test with some dodgy steering unfortunately!

Just have a good time, try not to tense up, it's HARD to get a major so don't think "oh no I've failed there's no point trying!!!", just keep going and you'll do wel if you're relaxed.
