Mondeo ghia parts on zetec

Would it not be easier and cheaper to reset the tripcounter when you fiull up, write down how many litres you put in, divide by 4.55 and and then divide the miles by the number of gallons you filled up with?

Its a nice feature to have, along with the fact it has distance till empty etc.

Lots of marques do it, Golf Mk4s cold be retrofit with cruise control for £100 iirc.

True. If it's dbw just add the cruise equipped stalk and enable the setting in the ECU. Same on my Skoda, just the cheeky bleeders charged £170 from the factory...

^^ You think that's bad try the VW con that my friendly salesman helped me dodge.

Factory fitted cruise (as on option) £250
Dealer fitted cruise (on delivery) £170

Same thing! :\

(I got it thrown in for free :D)

A friend noticed that when he bought his Golf new a few years ago - shame the monkeys at the VW dealer left screwdriver marks all over the steering column cowling

Went to my local scrap yard after work last night and he didn't have anything :( gave him my number tho incase he gets one in.

Looks like im going to have to browse the bay daily :(

Think ill give cruise control a miss tho, i don't trust myself that much lol

I know on the Focus adding variable intermittent wipe is just a case of swapping the stalk - 1st mod I did on the RS to be honest. I'd guess it's probably much the same on the Mondy.

My god, the focus didn't have that? I thought that was like a standard feature, like including wheels. Jeez.

On the subject of modding, has anyone tried programming a flip key to a mk3 mondeo. Can somebody tell me about Pats chip and transponders?
Looks like a nice mod: http://fordwiki.co.uk/index.php/Ford_Flip_Key
Asked here but nobody has helped yet :( http://www.fordmondeo.org/forum/showtopic.php?tid/796612/

On the wiki page, it says I need '1 Replacement pats chip' and even ebay can't help me there :p

I tried it on mine - was a PITA getting the key to fit as the flip keys are for the new flat type blade, not the old barrel type. Ended up needing to glue it, which looked like a 5 year old did it.

Programming the remote is simple, but you'll need to destroy one of your existing keys to pullt he PATS chip out.

Not worth it IMO, better off with a Jag flip key if it really bothers you

Old barrel key with new type of fitting, so no super glue required.

I don't want a Jag one cos they look pants :p , so I just pull the PAT chip out of my non-remote spare key stick it in, program it and it will work?

Ooh, that didnt exist when I tried it!

Yup, sounds about right.

If you only have 2 keys, I'd be inclined to get a third non-remote key programmed just in case. If something goes wrong and you're only left with one, you wont be able to program any more without an expensive trip to the dealer

Do you know how much it costs to get a non-remote one done for me, surely that would require another pats chip? (Sorry I know nothing about this :p)

GOD DAMMIT!!!!

Stop talking about more mods.

Gonna have to do the flip key mod now :D

*edit*

Acctualy keep them comming ;)

Yup. Brembo brakes, check. AP Racing clutch, check. OZ Wheels, check. Sachs dampers, check. £30 wiper stalk that allows you to choose what speed the intermittent wipe works at? Bugger 'em, it'll make the car too expensive
