DJ HERO - Worth it?

Yeah I loved Guitar Hero 2 when I got that and numero 3 to a lesser extent. I think the novelty has warn off a bit on those games though as I played them so much! I much prefer dance/electronic music though so I'm looking forward to finally getting stuck in with this. :D
hehe, guitars are silly :) own every major GH but gh5, got fed up with that franchise. Big fan of rock band though, harmonix are the guys that made GH great, and with RB have the better product... play a few hours every week still :)

dj hero was a change i needed though :)

I was going to get this when it came out but held off because of the price. Then it sort of got lost in the shuffle of new games coming out i wanted to play. But my brother bought it from a friend so i got to have a go, but i just didn't like it, or more to the point, just didn't like the music selection or mixes. The actual gameplay was pretty good though so i went through a good few of the mixes but it just wasn't for me.

I heard they're making a DJH2, so i'm hoping it will be more geared towards the dance/house genre
you obviously never got so into rhythm games you could play through some of the crap that gets made for stepmania that make the mixes in djh seem like nothing :)

Sorry to bump this somewhat but I have been keeping an eye out for this to come down. I have seen quite a few places now doing the Normal edition for £39.99 and the renegade edition for £73.99.

Judging by what you lot have said above, its definitely worth going for it at £39.99 , Would you say that the renegade edition is still NOT worth the premium ???

I definitely wouldnt bother with the renegade edition, you'll find yourself with the deck on your lap most of the time anyway.

And the free CD, there's a reason they are unreleased tracks !

Deffo worth it BUT only if you have decent surround sound system to get you in the mood when playing.

Absolutely love playing mine.

Yeah, I should be OK with mine. With a Sony STRDH800 and Q-Acoustics Cinema 2000 I cant wait to ramp it up..........I have no neighbours either :D

That is good to hear. I like the quality look of the renegade edition but if the £39.99 one does the job I think its a winner.

Thanks a lot guys. Looks like my weeks ahead will be action packed with this and Red dead redemption :D:D

Deffo worth the play. I loved it and was highly addicted but then just woke up one morning and didn't want to play it again.

I don't understand how you can enjoy this if you actually have decks. I play guitar, thus the thought of using a plastic guitar to play songs I already know bores me.

I play guitar as well, I also play bass.

Guitar hero or Rock Band is a party game.

A few mates around and a few beers flowing, stick on some tracks and let the girls sing along... stick your fat mate on drums grab some of the GH/RB guitars and let the fun unwind :)

Real guitar is great, but RB/GH is a game... it's fun and everyone can enjoy it.

I would hazzard a guess your like a few of my mates who are so utterly stubborn that they won't like the GH/RB games that they've hardly ever played them... and when they do they just sit there going "ITS JUST NOT THE SAME!!"

Enjoy life and stop being such an elitest ****, it's a fun game... and a game is all it is. Crack open a few beers with your mates, and have a sesh.

I totally agree it's ridiculously over priced for what you get though.

It isn't the same as playing a real guitar/bass/drums/DJ kit... but it's not meant to be.

edit:
Look at me replying to a post made in January :o

[Some long post about the point of rhythm games and the stupid plastic controllers]
I completely agree with you, and I always get annoyed when I hear people complain about how stupid they are. I don't know anyone that's actually played the game and said that. I remember doing some multiplayer vocals on beatles rb with my sis, just having a laugh while chatting when my dad came in to ask a question or something. I handed him my 3rd mic and he joined in for a few lines. Very amusing, very fun. When you start taking it a bit too seriously (as I admittedly do on drums) it gets to the point where people are right about how "sad" people that play the games are.

I have an expensive drum kit for these games, and used to put some good hours every night trying to improve. Maybe I should just buy an even more expensive drum kit and learn that instead, I get more benefits (actually learning an instrument) than playing my fake kit (although it is an actual kit with a brain for ps3 and lacking a few parts), but I enjoy trying to beat scores and "not fail" a song way too much ;)

DJ Hero is the same sort of thing (damn I love rhythm games too much), the challenge of reading what you need to do, and trying to do it as accurately as possible to the beat has me addicted, despite the fact if I ever heard one of these "songs" outside of the game I would go and kill myself... ugh!

Not sure why you would bother spending more money of the "Renegade" edition

Hmm where did you find it for £40 - may pick it up for that...

ps3ud0

Purple four letter store, beginning with G :D

Just picked it up now, I traded in, Fifa 10 (£18) Splinter Cell Conviction (£21) and Batman AA (£7).

I now have £6 on one voucher, £30 on another and £6 on my reward card. Red Dead next please.
