70's were fine, got nothing on the 80's. When a whole country comes together against the government you know something wrong has happened. And you just let them back in, well ****ing done.

1976 ring a bell? I believe it had something to do with the IMF in that year

I don't mind paying more tax if we get:

- Efficient reduction of deficit
- Better Law and Order and criminals dealt with properly
- Proper border forces
- A kick up the arse for sponging workshy

For starters...

those on dole will pay nothing will they with tax hikes

BUT I hope they can clobber them some other way !

Labours easy street is over suckers ! time to get off the sick and get a job!

Well that was what I was assuming/hoping/implying. They need to be made to work for their benefits, as happens in other EU countries, or they don't get any.

Oh, and why are you hotlinking the Sun.

I often find it very odd, that people cling onto the past about the conservatives, as I see it we would all be run by Unions. Everyone striking in favour of everyone else's argument, and those that took part in the strikes and their families constantly cling onto the fact they lost, is the way I interpret it. Yes industry was crushed as a result, but was it really the Torys fault? I don't know I didn't live through most of it. But I have made my judgment on where I voted as what I have lived through, years of the Nanny state, years of lies and lost promises. Is that the same as the Torys I don't know, but I suppose I am about to find out.

But please drop the same old Torys, etc.... its old, its about time we had change and I am genuinely happy to see a coalition of parties it is the first time we can all say it is genuine change in our lifetimes.

I'm so tempted to say "Lets hope that Cameron has some sense and take some cash away from Big 'Eck ASAP" on my Facebook - mainly to annoy my friends.
I don't think this will go down very well though, given my location...

This lib-con coalition is awesome - exactly what I wanted. You have cable in the cabinet as chief secretary to the treasury and hague as foreign secretary. :) Who said hung parliaments were a bad thing?

edit: and for those that think clegg has sold his sole, wait for the details but it seems that the lib dems will have quite a few of their policies implemented including the 10k personal allowance.

you have a very unusual definition of 'fair' then :P

Poll tax was about everyone paying equal amount for local services. Just because you live in an expensive house does not make you any more of a drain on local authority resources than someone else.
Every person in a local area generally is an equal drain on resources, so should contribute the same amount
