Folks, a quick one - what tyre pressures would you recommend running in Schwalbe Smart Sam 2.1's?.
Anyone?.
Schwalbe website says 30-55 psi. Quite a difference in range there, so for normal everyday trail use, what would you reckon?.
Tyre pressure depends on your bike and your weight. I'm 12stone and can get away with around 26psi. Upping it to 30psi for some trails.
Do you not find the tires drag a little with the low pressure?, im only 8st and if i tryed 26 in mine they would drag like hell, at the moment im at around 48 and they are still dragging but tires are only supposed to go to 50 so im out of luck.
*Yawn* just brake pads but they are RED

hey there guys. First post in this thread. I recently (2 weeks ago) got a scott scale 50. I am loving the bike, but am thinking of changing the stem for a couple of reasons. Firstly, i feel that i have to lean over just that little too much, Saddle height adjustment just doesnt help, and the stock stem must be atleast 120mm. the bike is predominantly white and i also thought a white stem could look cool.
So my question is, does anyone have any recommendations for a decent stem thats white. Need a 31.8mm clamp diameter and steer tube is 1-1/8". Also, would like not too spend a massive amount
Couple of other things, how will stem length affect handling, never changed a stock stem before. And also, is there any way of knowing if the new stem will fit properly in terms if its height on the steerer tube.
Apologies for all the questions
Thanks![]()
Generally a shorter stem will quicken and make the front end more livley and seem slightly lighter even though it isnt due to it being closer to the centre. Also if you have spacers on your steerer which most bikes do these days as the steerers, are generally uncut on new bikes any stem will fit, just juggle the spacers to get it right for you.
As for the stem i cant think of any white ones, but for length probably a 90mm would be a good starting point. If you have a LBS, you could go in and ask them and see if they have a few to check out for lengths. Oh an also there is the rise of the Stem itself, again probably best seeing if a LBS has a few to check them out.
edit/ 2 This one in 90mm nice black colour, i know its not white.
Edit/3 Found a nice white one, has the 90mm
