Years ago derren done a a show where he made about 12 people believe there were ghosts in an old building, and at one point had stuff flying above the table/smashing etc.. right infront of them.

For those who believe in this rubbish should look up the Fox sisters.
They were the creators of modern spiritualism and basically everybody who is now a medium came from their stable.
One of the Fox sisters couldn't live with her lies any longer and decided to come clean about their conning of people and it's truly unbelievable that something that started from lies is still going.

Harry Houdini showed how it was done well over a century ago. Many of the same techniques are still used (just as many other magic tricks are very old), and I assume newer ones have been invented. It's like so-called psychic powers: it's all magic tricks, with the added bonus that no-one boos if it goes wrong.

But like the non-existence of Father Christmas, The Easter Bunny and The Tooth Fairy somebody had to break it to you at some point that "Mediums" are simply frauds.
Well, i have had a few things happen that i cannot explain.
I went to one medium and i didn't say a word to him, nothing. He told me there was a young man standing next to me who was identical to me, his name was Christopher and he died in tragic circumstances.
Now, please don't take the mick as i am talking about my twin brother who died (drowned) trying to save his brother-in-law, they both drowned.
How did the medium know it was my twin, his proper name, how he died (Tragically). It would have to be an awesome guess don't you think?
I didn't say anything to the medium at all and he didn't know me from adam. Other things he came out with were weird. I really can't explain that.
Another thing: One night, a group of us were doing a seance around a big oak table, in a castle, and as we were about to leave the room, the table came hurtling towards the door!! Explain that? Nobody else was in the room!! The table weighed a ton!! It was solid Oak!!
Obviously the so called 'medium' on Darren Browns program was a fake! The whole program could have been a setup for all we know!!

No idea about the name or sex, but frankly you could quite easily describe anyones death as tragic. It's one of those all encompassing words, a car accident is tragic, a disease is tragic, a crime is tragic. Tragic could be used for any death. As I say though, that's only looking at the tragic part of the reading.
Course there then is always the possibility that the medium was in some way reading your mind rather than talking with someone who is dead. Same information, different method of acquisition.

Well there's two ways of looking at this. You may have given him more information at the time than you recall or fitted your data to his suggestions - just like when people say I see a paul and the sitter says "oh, you must mean my pauline!". Also what information did you give him before you met? He had your name I suppose which is enough information to find out quite a lot about you - including possibly recent deaths in your family.
When people come out with really specific facts then most likely they have just researched the sitter beforehand.

What ever daft parlour tricks theyre pulling, they are not using telekinetic abilities or having theyre ghosty mates dance around with lamps or whatever.

Also if their gift is real surely they could foresee tragedies such as 9/11 7/7 etc, why did they not bring this to anyones attention thats a crime against the country! Firstly, he didn't know me from adam, didn't know my name. It was one of these open day events where you just turned up, payed your money and away you went!
Also, the sitting was recorded by a tape recorder. I have played it many times and i don't give anything away. Nothing! Zilcho!
As for reading my mind, don't know if anyone can do that or how? Maybe he knows 'Spock!'
