This Photography lark is expensive :(

Or it could be as cheap as you make it.

Make money from it, use all the money to get new gear, so you make no profit = no tax ! Since all spending on the business in the course of a business are tax deductible :p

Soon enough you'll be buying that 300mm 2.8 just so you don't want to give the taxman a penny :p

Meh, not that bad, I worked out recently if I sold all my kit i'd probably be a couple of hundred up due to buying used just before the price increases*. Not bad for a few years hobby. :p

Having said that I'm contemplating selling one of my lenses to go on "holiday". :(

*Doesn't include camera, which I didn't pay for, but does include memory cards, tripods etc.

I can beat that; I paid 500 for mine last march and then sold it recently for 580! A year of quality glass which ended in profit :D:cool:

Not brand spanking new with a warranty tho ;)

As for expensive...

Three weeks ago: 70-200 F4 L IS: £869
Two weeks ago: 7D: £1000 (3 months old! whoop!)

Very expensive, I'm trying to get hold of a 17-55 2.8 and a 70-200 L4 although it's expensive the lens do seem to hold value for a good few years.

Still kicking myself I forgot to bid on a 70-200 L 2.8 IS USM that went for £700 yesterday morning. It was not old and came with reciepts :(

Keep your eyes open mate-there is one out there with your name all over it-you just need to find it:D

Finally got out working last night, got some great shots with my new gear. Still taking a bit of getting used to.

Ok, since Feb this year spending has been:

5D Mark II
24-70
70-200 f4 IS
50 1.2
A house in York!

Now that little lot was EXPENSIVE!

(although both the 70-200 and 50 were second hand bargains! :D)

At least you've got a house to sell for your next purchase :p
