Lucky Brit Scoops Highest UK Lottery Win

I dream about winning the Euromillions every day (sad). I've planned that if I won the jackpot this week, I've give me mum money to but herself a big house and for her to be able to quit work as well as me dad. I'd go round to my mates house and tell them how much I won and ask them to come travelling with me (quit work). I'd be off to the following in order (yes, OCD): London for a week then off to Miami for 2 weeks then LA for a week, Orlando for a week, Montego Bay for 2 weeks then off to Sydney for 6 months. Once I come back, I'd buy a big house and just live the dream :)

My other thought when I came back from travelling was that maybe I'd open a night club in Ibiza or in Northern Ireland just so I don't get bored :)

Drunk brits shouting and screaming at your venue?

I'd get bored of that pretty quickly :p

Ahh. Never really looked at the first post, gonna check my tickets later. :p

Whoever it is may as well keep their traps shut about it and not go public, near sure that couple that won the 50 odd million were getting death threats, or their kids were at least :(

you're from Ireland mate so you understand the impact it could have on your or me for example. Paramilitaries would be all over you.

I'm sure Camelot will persuade you to go public, after all it's marketing for them and you'd end up spending more money I'd imagine too from hiring lawyers / protection and whatnot just to keep people from the public off your back.

Privacy > short term fame!

I'd be straight on eBay buying old Bangers. Seriously, my dream is to buy an absoultely massive warehouse/hanger, kit it out complete with several full Snap-on tool chests and multiple 2 poster ramps and then spend the rest of my days buying, restoring, modifying, collecting and racing the old, worthless cars that I love. Friends and family are welcome to borrow anything they want for however long they want so the cars would actually get used rather than just sitting about, pointlessly gathering dust.

I would travel the world, like 3-4 years just travelling. Living life to the max. Just blowing money on women, drink, drugs.

The chances are I would never make it back to the UK but I would be happy with that no matter how it ended up. I certianlly wouldn't worry about investing for the future.

I can't say I've done the Euro lottery. I'm curious how people here are winning non-integer values like £22.60 and £6.80. Is that because of the exchange rate from € to £ ?

On Camelot's regular lottery, I've had £10 numerous times and £88 once from 4 numbers.

I used to play the scratchcards online too. The gameplay was quite good back in 2006, but it went down the drain last year so I stopped it (by setting my play limit to £0 every week). Still play the lotto though.

I have no idea what I'd do if I won that sort of money

I'd certainly buy a nice house and move out and maybe start my own business :)

The thing is, say you won £87 million, your friends and family are very likely to know. So... how much do you give them?

A million to your best friend? Five million? What would be an insultingly small ammount, given you won 87?
Then again, if you give someone a million quid, and they think 'Is that all?' then they probably aren't that great a friend.

I wouldn't tell them tbh...

Or at least I would wait a few months before giving anyone any money, wouldn't tell them where it came from and wouldn't reveal how much I had. would just let immediate family know initially and give fairly hefty chunks of it away too them.

I'd buy every single house in my street than gate it off like downing street, make it my personal land that all my mates can live on :D

Yeah I think I would probably lie and say I'd been investing in the stock market, in some private startup businesses, something about chinese and arabic companies etc. Say I'd earned several million having sold all my shares. I think that when people know you've won the lottery they feel like you haven't actually earned the money (which is true) and they are more likely to want some of it. If you "earned" it through investments, I think people are less likely to change.
