New 5970 problem already

Isn't that too high for 2d clocks? Watch the temps very carefully. It just seems you've jumped from a very low number to the other end of the scale.

My video card in 2d = core : 507 memory : 500. Then in game it climbs to 750 & 900 respectively.

Ive changed it to your settings now:)

Ok, cool. :)

Personally try around (guess work a bit here) 300 core and memory say 500.

Glad your getting positive results now, tis an awesome bit of kit.

Edit : I see you've already changed them, you still 'might' find that a little too high, hmmmm I'm not sure, see how you go.

Good stuff ! :)

Rev that mother in a game, now! :D

Edit : If you find the temps a little higher than you'd like then maybe reduce the clocks a little more. I don't know for certain but something like 300 core and memory should be adequate. Possibly even lower, just not 175 core. ;) :)

300 core and 250 memory are the best I've managed to get. I can now run the fan at the lowest speed (20%) and the hotter second gpu runs at about high 40's or around 50C.

@OP - Yep, as suggested save the profile then you shouldn't have to worry when you boot up the next time. :)

I know where it is, but i just dont know how to keep the overclock settings and make the profile stay with my overclocked settings?

Ive had a play about with ccc profiles and they just dont work at all for your overclocking settings. So im just gonna have to go into my overclocking program and do it everytime i startup, its no big deal it takes me less than 10 seconds.

C\Users\'Name'\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\'Profile name you set up if you followed the AMD forum link'. Open with notepad and change values, go to close window and then save after a prompt. Re-open CCC and select 'options' and slide across to 'activate profile'. Should then engage.

(I found setting the values too low meant nothing happened).

I feel that the clocks you eventually used (my stock 4870X2 clocks) could go quite a bit lower, but it is of course up to you what you set them at. :)

Basically i turned my pc on and when it got to put my password to login, it took about 5-10 seconds to register me typing it in, which gave a it a blue screen. After that all seemed normal but 10 seconds later i got purple/pink artifacts about halfway at the bottom of my screen. The computer froze for about 5 seconds then the screen flickered then i got a message saying something like amd display drivers has just recovered. Finally the screen just freezed so i just restarted.
Ive had the card since friday, i formatted my pc before i installed my new card. My current temps are 43c idle and i have the 10.3 drivers installed.

Edit: Everything seems fine now, shall i just put it down to a random one off encounter and not worry about unless it happens again?

This is exactly what happened to my 4870X2. The issue was intermittent but got worst over time, until it was finally useless. If I was you I would send back the 5970 for a replacement asap. Take a few pics of the blue screen and the on screen corruption.

I dunno if you have done this allready, but I would un-install CCC, and then re-install it from the disc you got with your 5970, then update it, then click restore Factory settings, might just work..
