Hi there people i just wanted to get your opinion on the SSD world. After reviewing all the number of choices out there i think that the best performance to cost ratio is probably from OCZ.

So i narrowed my choice down to the OCZ Vertex 2 or the OCZ Vertex LE. Now i need your help in deciding which one to purchase. I will be buying the 50GB model of either one as i dont need 100GB for OS, photoshop and adobe premiere.

I just wanted to know what the difference was between the two as the speeds look too similar. And i have also noticed on the OCZ website that there was only firmware for the limited edition model.

Thanks for your help guys!

SSD's in general draw such little power its nothing to get concerned with
i have the LE 100gb, im getting good speeds of 286 read 272 write on ATTO

I would say Vertex II, but mine doesnt seem to write/read at the speed it supposed to do, but any of the 2 would be good, but if you got Vertex II least you got the newest :)

Hold here for V2 100GB benchmark... give me 5 minutes. Installed yesterday with 30GB remaining.

Drive fresh installed W7 X64 yesterday. Newest Intel rapid storage drivers, W7 not yet fully updated and CPU at stock 2.66Ghz. HD is 32.4GB / 93.1GB remaining.

I think the LE as the sandforce 1500 controller while the 2 has the 1200 version.

The 1500 is "better" ;)
Vertex LE is not an SF-1500 but more an SF-1200 with Firmware of the SF-1500.
I would buy the Vertex 2 since its a mass production product and not a limited 5000 units like the Vertex LE.
The Vertex 2 also seems more stable and speed is generally a bit faster then the Vertex LE overall.

I think you'd be stupid not to buy the Vertex 2... It's cheaper than the LE and is newer, thus has a longer future in terms of driver/firmware support.

:p I didn't buy from OcUK though.
