Still getting ID'd at 31

Don't get ID'd all that much anymore (26), though the last time I was ID'd, ironically, was on the eve of my 26th birthday at the supermarket. Can't even remember the last time I got ID'd in a pub. It's not a problem, considering if I'm out buying something, I'll have my wallet and therefore my DL.

That's the funny thing about it, I don't get ID'd in pubs/clubs but I do get ID'd in super markets, corner shops.

That I don't have a problem with. Whats that gotto do with age, 15 year olds have more hair on their face than adults these days!
Really? First facial hair looks a bit naff, I don't remember any kids at school before we left having or at least trying to keep facial hair. Come to that, even at 6th form college.

Solution? What? What's the problem to begin with? The major stores accept a wide range of photographic ID cards.

Just because you pay taxes doesn't mean you are entitled to anything. The stores you are talking about aren't run by the Government so it doesn't matter what, if any taxes you pay. Besides, you're in the majority, most people would rather the money be spent elsewhere, and this is a democracy, so you lose out.

Because alcohol has an age limit.

There are plenty.

Oh, so I am a fully UK worker who obays the law to every single nuck and cranny as possbile and I get penalized for it. Sweet.

Yes, alcohol has an age limit so what? I am within age. Just because super markeys, corner shops might not think I am a certain age I am.

People would rather see money spent elsewhere because them are the most who loves breaking the law!!! Them are the people who don't care about age related activities! They should put age concerns first because people are been ruled out of and pushed aside because of age!

Yeh, really. I did for a start and tidy facial hair at that!

So what? It doesn't mean you are entitled to anything like I previously said. If you want to drive, you have to a get a licence, if you want to get a rifle, you have to get a licence, you want to buy alcohol you will more than likely need to buy a form of ID.

The supermarkets have no idea how old you are though, if you're 17, and they get caught, the cashier gets a fine of around £100, the store gets a fine of around £2500, and they could lose their licence. So, to quote you... why should they be penalised because you won't get a form of ID?

And the Government cares about "age related activities", that's why they clamped down on stores breaking the law, hence the reason for Think 25 which is now in place.

Off topic: What the **** are you going on about? Mobile phones are to communicate with. Some people choose not to want to be contacted every single hour of the day! Now thats madness if you wanted to be contacted every single hour of the day!

I agree but I do think that everyone should carry a phone as it could help save someone's life in a emergency, I'm not a fan of mobile phones but I just leave it off and turn it on when needed or to check messages etc.

Yeh, I see where you coming from but at the end of the day the people who are over 18 but don't look it, don't drive or fly them are the ones been penalized. The goverment should introduce a national ID card for people who want them and make it another form of identification in all areas where age restrictions apply.

No they shouldn't. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. You are in the minority here, the Government doesn't need to be spending billions on some stupid cards that people could buy themselves if they need it. A driving licence or passport is not required, there are many other forms of ID out there that shops will accept. There are 5 that I know of including the 2 above. Stop being so lazy and tight and fork out for one, they are as cheap as £15 - Hardly being "penalised".

I'm 29 and get ID in supermarkets and shops etc, but never in pubs and clubs, I think it's just policy to ask most "young" people ID.

Think 25 is only a slight annoyance for most people. The worst thing is when not every single person who has ever met you has no ID to hand when buying alcohol.

I have been refused when my mate didn't have his ID on him. He was obviously the same age as me, and I had valid ID. Was told no, both had to have ID even though the beer was for me being paid for by me. He just happened to come in with me.

The same happened to a friend and his mrs had to go out to the car to get her purse to prove she was over 18.

It is bloody daft. If you were buying alcohol for underage kids you certainly don't take them with you! When two mates walk in who are clearly the same age [my friend has even been mistaken as being my brother!] and one has just proven they're 24, why refuse you?

I was 31 until quite recently and I was ID'd in Wetherspoons in Guildford :D

I looked at the guy as if to say 'er, you sure fella?' and he just said yeah fair comment and let me in :D

I got ID'd the other day in the coop trying to buy Super Glue. I, the last customer to be served and the entire queue burst out laughing.

It's getting silly, I'm not at all offended that I might look a substantial number of years younger than I am, but one day I'll not have ID on me, and I won't be able to buy Super Glue.

Most supermarkets have a policy to ID anyone that looks under 21 / 25. They usually have it written all down the booze isle, and accross every checkout in big huge red signs.

Then when some people over 25 get ID'd, they throw a hissy fit.

^^ ID'ing over superglue is ridiculous, the over 21 / 25 thing for alcohol is because the police send in underage undercover teens to buy alcohol, and if they manage to, the person that sold it gets a rather nasty fine. But anything other than booze / cigs doesnt really matter. I didnt even bat an eylid when a mother let her kid who looked about 10-12 buy a copy of GTA seperate to the rest of their shopping, I could have stopped the sale, but I really hate customers that begin fussing and yelling (as too many people who get ID'ed for alcohol do, regardless of showing them the big reg sign that says people who look under 25 must be ID'd for booze).

You eventually get completely drained and stop caring bout it. Then one day you end up with a not so nice police fine.
