Modern Warfare 2 "Resurgence" DLC, $15 again..

It still isnt entirely normal, theyre pushing things like microsoft's live and Modern Warfare's matchmaking systems on us to create environments that dont allow custom content and put in place the infrastructure to charge for these things.

I still cant bring myself to buy MW2, no way will I put money in the pockets of people who are doing their best to kill everything that makes PC gaming unique.
 
It's fundamentally wrong to charge for maps in an FPS game, you end up dividing your community and reducing the overall enjoyment of the game.

Of course, they don't really care about this due to these reasons:

# They plan on releasing a new CoD game annually for as long as they can milk the franchise.
# Those that buy MW2 are mostly dummies who will buy the next CoD game regardless of how good it is.
# A great deal of people will buy this 'DLC' and they'll net a huge profit for doing very little.

These three things combine to make them care very little about the community or the effects this all has on it.

Don't be stupid, don't buy it, there are many other games out there that are far better than MW2, many of them are legally free and others are far more deserving of your money.

I really don't get why they don't allow gamers to create their own maps and stuff, surely in the long run they make more money out of it?

Actually thinking about it they don't, well in the long term people get ****ed and stop buying off *****..
 
so the game is £40, 3new maps and 2 old cost £11 and now 2 old and 3 new cost £15? almost £70 for a game and maps, which was completely doomed from the moment they didnt have dedi servers.

Don't see why they need to do this, other than to make people laugh at them.....

Regardless, there will be people out there that will buy this so I guess they're wanting to milk as much money while they still can - since it's not really played competitively I guess they can kinda get away with it.

Don't forget the final key point, it will all become obsolete the moment they release the sequel and remove most of the support for the previous game.

Another reason they moved away from community managed dedicated servers.

Not that I care if this game dies, it's truly awful.
 
Makes sense I guess, the impression I get is that the Stimulus Pack was a huge success for them so why not keep churning out the DLC to keep the revenue coming in while they wait for CoD7 to hit the shelves? Maybe for the next game they could consider a subscription model, only say £25-30 for the game but then charge people a fiver a month to play online?

Just let us buy the game for £40 and play for free :)
 
I paid £24 for MW2 (pre-ordered it) and £10.99 for stimulus so that's £35. I've spent 54 hours playing the game and will spend many more as I really like it. I don't consider it a bad deal :)

Mw2 was ok, but nothing that special imo. Cant believe they way the cod series has gone.
 
To think I felt a bit gypped* on the last JC2 DLC, and it was £1.60.


*it's not being used in a derogatory context, I'm implying travellers are fantastic and cunning thieves and should be credited as masters of the art.
