Mitsibushi GTO/GT3000 Twin Turbo

Love these cars but are hard work to maintain, they have 3 or something ECU's and the electronics go wrong often. Also the engine bay is so cramped its hard to work on.

How about a 200sx, 300zx, or a Skyline GTS?

Or for max 0-100 attack, an Impreza?

Supra would be my choice, I'm not biased ;) they have a far better road presence and are just, well, nicer imo.

I considered GTO's but was put off by the seemingly larger number of problems compared to the Supra.

The owners clubs are a godsend and there are regularly some nice, well looked after ones for sale on there.

You will need a fair bit more than 2k though for a good TT...

Is this the 4WD one? I drove one about 10 years ago and it was pretty mental on anything that resembled loose ground. I liked it :p

I think the number one problem is that the Mitsubishi was far too complex for it's own good, Something like a Supra seems quite simple in compassion

Nah, not a Skyine. M and N reg ones are absolutely everywhere with bits hanging off, scrapes down the side and Halfords alloys. Not the same effect as a Supra these days.

Wat?

Surely you are aware of the L/M Reg NA/Auto Supras rocking about with gash bodykits (Usually Bomex fakes).

You will VERY RARELY see a barry Skyline GTR, Barry Supras (even TTs) are ten a penny.

my experience of them was that it wasnt that quick at all against my 2.0 golf. he started pulling away after about 75-80mph by which point my mate in a 20vt corrado twigged, caught up and demolished the gto

if you fancy one though, why not?

You do come out with some absolute corkers.

The Mitsubishi GTO was rated at 276bhp - coincidently exactly the limit of the Japanese manufacturers 'gentlemens agreement' of the time. The UK 3000GT was rated at 325bhp with identical torque to the GTO so its fair to assume both cars were 325bhp as standard.

You wouldnt see which way one went in your 2 litre Golf, unless it was a NASP, but this thread isnt about the NASP.

mk3 Golf 2.0 115bhp - 100bhp/ton
mk3 Golf 2.0 with 150bhp - 131bhp/ton
GTO with 276bhp - 184bhp/ton at roughly 1500kg

Yes :p

do some sums, it bet power to weight etc isnt that far off at all

1997 Golf GTI 2.0:

150bhp, 1100kg (Very light? Wow, is it really this light?) 0-60 8.0 seconds.

136bhp/tonne.

1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT:

325bhp, 1695kg, 0-60 4.8 seconds (worst case scenario, ie the slowest, is 5.8 seconds if its a 1992 model).

192bhp/tonne.

Now please, behave.
